    Re: New Scissors?

I have the large Karen Kay Buckley scissors (purple handle) and love them. I prefer them to the Kai serrated edge in the same size. I also have the tiny green ones and almost never use them. I do...

Re: Tell me if my friend is crazy

Well yes, I think she is crazy, and if she were my friend that is exactly what I would tell her. Of course, if money is not an issue for her I guess she can spend it any way she wants.

    Re: Small iron suggestion

I watched the Crafty Gemini video on these irons and bought the little Sunbeam she recommends. I like it just fine. I bought this because i am working with some kids and the regular size iron...

    Re: New Scissors?

The Kai Professional series are amazing - pricey, but worth it. I have the 5" (give or take).
  5. Re: Color Block Drunkard's Path Quilt (When the kids are away...) | Midnight Quilt Show

I've had my eye on that kit for months - I prefer a project that is a challenge - feel like I'm getting my moneys worth. I never buy kits, but if that one gets cheap enough, I might spring for it.
  6. Re: Best Resources for Quilting with a Walking Foot?

Jaquie Gehring is a master of walking foot quilting. check out her Craftsy class.
  7. Re: Foundation piecing-when should I take of the paper?

The last one of these that I did was a challenge, but I left the paper on. This did assure that it went together well, but it was a pain to get the paper off. I did not get overly worried about...

    Re: Need Opinions on Scissors

I love the Karen Kay Buckley scissors (but not the tiniest one) - and also some of the Kai. Every year they have an on-line sale, so I grabbed one of the Professional model scissors - Oh my -...
  10. Re: Make a "Crossing Paths" Quilt with Jenny! New tutorial

There is a scrappy irish chain pattern on modabakeshop that I made - same effect but different method. If you don't want to do the seam ripping, check it out.

    Re: Ruined my quilt help

I have used the Hobbs wool batting from Connecting Threads several times, so know that brand to be of good quality. It is on sale now if you are thinking of trying it. I wash and dry like my other...

    Re: batting question

I used to buy a bamboo blend from Hancock Fabric - miss them! Anyway, is probably my favorite batting - very drapey and a nice weight, not heavy. I never did know the brand though..

    Re: Fabric frustration. ..

I'm always happy when there's nothing I want. Keep that money in my pocket a while longer. Time to go rummaging through what I already have and make something.

Re: LQS that sell online Love em or hate em?

I buy fabric on line all the time. Although we have a few good quilt shops in town, they are much more expensive, so I just have to be in the mood to spend more money. A good sale will also get my...

    Re: Calling all Scrappy Quiltmakers

I have two "rules" First is I use scraps with a hint of a color scheme - bright pastels maybe - then I will throw anything in there that meets that requirement. Second, a unifying fabric, so a lot...

Re: Need help with fabric collection

Check out the Boundless solids from Craftsy. They have a neutral palette that has these colors almost exactly. I did a half square triangle quilt from a layer cake for the most recent baby in our...

Re: We're not the only ones....

I used to be more of a knitter than I am today, and agree that "good" yarn can get really pricey. But, as I am something of a fabric snob, I also was a bit of a yarn snob. My rationale - I did not...

Re: Saving the quilting industry article

There is just so much "stuff" out there - I think one of the issues is that a lot of quilt projects these days are all about fast, easy projects. This is all well and good, but paying retail for a...
