Boomerang quilt (pattern by Julie Herman)

I wanted to practice doing more free motion quilting on my home sewing machine, so thought this would be a good experience using just all my scraps. I didn't buy any material, as I just wanted to...

In Memory of Dad: Neck Ties Quilt

After dad passed, mom and I often pulled out the big rubbermaid container of dad's ties that she had kept. She wanted to make a quilt using them, and we would dream and brainstorm of what that might...

    Sharpening sewing scissors

I have some Fiskars sewing scissors that are pretty dull. How do you all sharpen yours? What's the best tool to buy?

Re: Stained Glass Poppy Applique Wall hanging

I ordered the "lead" ... the pattern says you need one reel but this pattern actually took another 1/2 of a reel. I also didn't have a machine that could do the double needle stitching. I started...

Stained Glass Poppy Applique Wall hanging

Just finished this project, using the pattern by Rob Appell (Man Sewing). Hubby thinks it's too bold for a wall hanging in our house. :) Was fun to do, but not definitely something I'd like to do...

  10. Vintage Ornaments Quilt-Along with "We All Sew" by Bernina

I enjoyed following along this tutorial, using only Christmas scraps I had to make the ornaments so it's a bit different than what the original pattern calls for. I machine-quilted it on my little...

    Fall Pumpkin Table centerpiece

Using scraps, and the pattern by Quilters World Autumn 2016 magazine. I free motion quilted this on my simple home sewing machine. I did trace the center to stitch!
  14. I'm obsessed with making different kinds of jean blankets!

I've been looking for the perfect project to use my dad's work jeans and flannel shirts. He passed away 3 years ago, and I've just been saving them. So in memory of the week he died, September 2nd,...

Stained Glass Window Jean Picnic blanket

I loved the stained glass window look to quilts, and had seen someone post doing a jean blanket, so thought I'd give it a try! The jeans come from family's old jeans cut up, EXCEPT for the darkest...

This is the second quilt that I've made with scraps, while getting my stash all organized. I posted the first one a month ago or so. I machine quilted this one on my home machine, all free motion. ...

    Re: Scrappy Quilt

No, I didn't use rulers, although I'd like to learn that some day. I marked it and just slowly followed the lines. On the border I used my walking foot, so I know that helped with a smoother line.

    Re: Scrappy Quilt

There are seams there! There are actually four "squares" that meet to form the one middle square with the flower quilted in it. So there are seams running both horizontal and vertical.

    Scrappy Quilt

I re-organized my scraps a few years ago, and just cut 1 1/2 x 3 1/2 rectangles out of the pieces that weren't worth folding and saving. I saw a version of this pattern one time, and decided to use...

Re: Road Vehicles quilt for 4 year old Grandson

I couldn't find just corn fabric, so had to go with the corn on the cob fabric that I found. We farm, and haul out corn, so thought he'd like to see that. :)

Re: Road Vehicles quilt for 4 year old Grandson

    Re: Sticks and Stones quilt

A quilt usually takes me about two months to handquilt on the frame shown above. It is much quicker, as I can have 20 needles going one way ... go around the other side and go the other way, etc....
