Re: Does a binding need to be bias?

I was originally taught to make all binding on the bias. Now I just use it when I scallop edges, which I've done often. Love the look. Otherwise I use straight of grain binding. To make great corners...

    Re: Bias binding best method?

I was taught bias binding before straight. I was taught to cut at a 45degree angle and go from there. It probably wastes more fabric but honestly it's a fail safe for me without the confusion.

Re: teaching a child to sew

I like brother, I sew on a Bernina now but my back up is brother. My 16 year old sews and can manuiver without any issues. I would recommend a brother. They are work horses

    Re: Flannel remnants

I would cut sashing from a solid and do squares like an eye spy. I combine different fabrics all the time, I do not prewash anything and never had issues. Regardless if you donate it, should be...

  19. Re: Sale at Joann's Fabric store... Love their coupons!

I buy character fabrics at Joann's. It doesn't matter where you buy them, the quality is the same at Joann's, quilt stores and even Walmart. Joann's is great for stabilizers and other accessories....
