    Re: Oil for Juki 2010q

I was recommended to use the same thin specialty oil that I was using on my Bernina 710. The Bernina is long gone but I keep using the same brand of oil.

    Re: Re-Quilting

    Scary, scary thing to do!!!

I have actually skinned a large quilt and re-quilted it. The skinning process is not for the faint hearted and good heavens, it took me hours and hours to do but I...

Re: MSQC Thread in Juki 2010Q

I use Gutterman 50wt with a top tension of about 1.5. I also often use Invisafil (with a thread net ) and I drop the needle tension just a smidge. I use Superior titanium needles, usually size...

    Re: Missouri Star Cotton Thread

I feel really dismal......my machine only has a horizontal pin...... why aren't sewing machines fitted with horizontal and vertical spool pins? I'm feeling a bit grumpy that after spending serious...

Re: Polyester batting and breaking stitches

Hmmmm, I use Aurafil 50wt for piecing but don't generally use it for quilting as it is a thinner thread being only 2 ply as opposed to say Gutterman 50wt which is 3 ply I think. I use Aurafil 50wt...

Re: When is a quilt just too ugly to continue?

I made 2 quilts for a dear friend; hated how both of them came together but gifted them anyway and have regretted it ever since. I feel as though I cheapened our friendship and I am now, several...

    Re: do you think

When I gift a quilt that has an "error" or "woopsie" in it I tell the recipient that if they can find it and tell me what the "problem" is I will give them a box of chocolates....it has made for some...

Re: Quilting on your domestic machine

I love close quilting and usually do either straight lines vertically, or a continuous spiral starting from the centre of my quilt. I use my walking foot as a guide so my lines are usually about 3/8"...

    Soluble thread and hand basting.

Thoughts on this? I hand baste my quilts and am wondering...why not use soluble thread so I don't have to snip it out after quilting...it'll just wash away when I wash it after completion. Thoughts?

    Frequent thread changing during quilting.

I usually pick one thread colour for my quilting but with my current quilt I'd really like to use a couple of different colored threads. I am planning to do matchstick quilting so want the threads to...

    Re: On-line fabric ordering?

Living in Australia, I decided to order some well known, fabric online from a large, well known, overseas company. It arrived, and to me the quality was a bit of a disappointment but having never...

    Re: Stitch Regulators

I'm of the same opinion as Auntie Uli. I had a Bernina 7 series machine with a stitch regulator and I found it distracting. I ended up not using it. (Don't have the Bernina anymore either.) Do try...

    Re: batting has right/wrong side

Yep, I did...and in fact I actually re-basted a double bed quilt (pin basting mind you, not spray baste.....) when I realised I had "laid" the batting on the wrong way! Mind you, that was a few...

Thanks everyone, silly me didn't think about graphing it out myself....simple solution! And yes, it would have to be in several sections due to its size. But here's another question about this...

    MSQC North Star Quilt/tutorial

    Yes you certainly can.
  23. Re: The most economical way to use Bluprint / Craftsy

Thankyou Denise. So....if someone was able to purchase patterns etc without having a subscription (ie me), what is the purpose of the subscription? Did it entitle you to something more?
  24. Re: The most economical way to use Bluprint / Craftsy

Subscription? I've never paid a subscription to Craftsy but I have an account and have purchased patterns over the years. Can someone explain this to me?

    Re: Fabric blahs

I agree, nothing looks particularly new these days...it all looks pretty "same old same" to me. I keep gravitating back to the batiks aisle in my LQS for inspiration and delight.
