  3. Re: Frolic! A Quiltville Winter Mystery! (Intro)

I grew as a quilter because she is an excellent teacher of better ways to use less fabric. If I have to make 200 flying geese blocks in a week, I get to use continuous piecing, and a marathon of...

    Re: Question for longarmers

Dont sew them, just pin some cloth to each side for your clamps. The pins will be out away from the sewing area, and the added fabric will keep your clamps safely away too!

Getting the hang of ruler work

Ruler work is a slow process, and hopefully I will get more speedy with practice. This took way too long.

This would work if I had width of fabric for many pieces. Some may be 5 inches long by an inch.

    Re: Machine lifespan

Do you invest to have the machine serviced regularly? If the answer is yes, then the answer is yes keep it. If you have never serviced the machine, it may be worth it to see if it is in need and...

    Re: Nylon Thread

I have heard that nylon thread will stretch if it is in the bottom portion of the stitch and will cause problems. Make a small quilt sandwich and see if it can be successful.

    Re: Quilting

I used to be a non-starch fan. And realized as my iron aged, starch really helps puff the threads in the fabric and removes wrinkles. Saves me money on purchasing a new iron. So I start a project...

A while back I quizzed here on the forum as well as other social media sites, the layout of my stars and patches. People wanted sashing. But if I added a row and a half to the patchwork I would not...

Lets face it, quilters are the only ones (and their loved ones) who know the costs of time and money put into a quilt. Your coworkers have not a clue. Because they...

Poll: What do you like best

These blocks are turning out busy, but I like the scrappy vintage feel. Should they have scrappy sashing? Should I incorporate hsts in the sashing? No sashing? or something else?

    Re: Lightweight solution?

Skip the batting all together, make it an old fashioned summer quilt with no batting at all. Or you can overlock all seams and just make her a top summer coverlet to put on the bed, with no weight.
