Re: Log Cabin Cross wall hanging

I think that narrow black border on the red one adds a lot. All of them are lovely.

Re: Triangles left over from trimming binding

That is the same thing that I do. Use them as starters and enders. I keep them in a little baggie next to my machine. When they get to full of stitches in the waste basket they go.

Re: Using cutting mat for measuring?

I find it is easier to use a ruler. I never use the mat.

    Re: Favorite batting?

Quilter's Dream - They have several weights and even a special batting for baby/children's quilts. Google it. You should find several online sites that sell it. It's sometimes offered on Massdrop...

Re: Warm & Natural Cotton Batting

I sometimes pre-wash my batting by putting it in the bathtub and soak it for about 15 minutes. Than I let the water out of the bathtub while the batting is still in the tub. I step on the batting...

    Re: tip pressing seams open

Another tip I just found was after you press your block, place a large ruler or several books on top of it until it cools. Seams are really flat. You can do this with or without steam. I use steam...

Re: Thought this was so cute

I wonder how many squares it would take. You could make the squares any size depending on how big you want the holder to be and could use it with a flower vase as well. Really cute.

Re: So God made a quilter!

That is so true. Almost made me cry. Very fitting for Thanksgiving Day. Thanks for all the quilters out there helping one another and passing their talents on to the next generation.

    Re: Higher Loft Batting

I agree that Quilters Dream Wool makes a lofty quilt that shows the quilting.

    Sticky: Re: Giveaway Week 31 Aug 21st - 28th

Both for me too. I made my son a quilt about 3 years ago that is pretty much in need of replacement. It's been used and washed so many times. Better make him a new one. And I have some quilts that...

I feel the same as some of the others. Always READ the directions for the entire pattern before starting to cut.

I taught 3 of my granddaughters to make rag quilts. One has gone on to make quilts on her own. I'm a proud grandma!

Re: Help - how do I quilt my t-shirt quilt?

I stitch in the ditch around the t-shirts and than do an X through the shirts. Works for me.

    Re: Giveaway Week 24 Jun 26th - Jul 3rd

Helping my grandchildren make rag quilts when they were in 3rd grade was a thrill for them as well as for me. Hope that they continue to enjoying crafting and sewing.

As far as thread, it depends if I want my quilting to show or not. Use heavier thread if you want it to show up...

Love my mom. I wish that she could see me now as she taught me to sew on an old Singer about 60 years ago.
