Re: satin binding - make or pre-made?

    Agree.

But, I have never heard of a rag quilt having binding. Why not rag the edges? That's what I did for a rag quilt.

    Re: Quilting

For me, it depends on the fabric. If the seams won't lie flat, I starch. If the wrinkles or creases won't come out, I starch.

Call the longarmer. She or he may decide they don't want to quilt it.

    Re: White Fabric dilemma

I was told a long time ago in a quilting/piecing class, that when you are piecing with white fabric and a dark color and the seams have to go towards the light fabric, that the dark fabric should be...

    Re: Sky Art 🌌

I love looking at all the "art" photos that you post.

I noticed that you ended each set today with "the end". I hope it's not the end. You get a lot of views on each one so a lot of people...

    Re: Pineapple quilt

Do you have a longarm or planning on quilting on a domestic machine?

Before I got my longarm, I quilted a queen size quilt on my machine that had a 7" throat space. I did a stitch in the ditch on...

    Re: Kids 👶

That brings back sweet memories of my two boys! I can remember covering the floor with plastic or newspapers and placing the highchair in the middle then letting them feed themselves.

    Re: Monday Chalk Art/Sky Art/Flower Art 🖼

    Awesome!

Wonder how old David Zinn is? To be able to draw like that on sidewalks, he would be spending a lot of time on his knees. I know my knees could not handle it!

Re: Garment Sewing Advice for a Beginner

I'm only 5'8" but have a hard time with the length of shirt sleeves. If I find a pretty men's shirt I will buy it!

I was so happy when women started wearing high heels with jeans. The clothing...

    Re: Hawaiian flower scraps

I would make a scrappy disappearing 9 patch. Pick a fabric that goes well with all the others and use it for the center square. Remember, the squares can be any size just as long as they are all...

    Re: Lightweight solution?

I like the idea of no batting and serging the seams rather than just piecing that way it can withstand multiple washings.
  21. Re: Determing size of triangle to attach to block

A while back I made a hexagon quilt and did not want to do any "Y" seams. So I stuck a triangle ruler on top of my hexagon and scooted it enough over to include a 1/4" seam allowance. I have the...

Re: Anyone make a quilted burp cloth?

Is there any type of bottom layer that is leak proof? Like vinyl? Or what they make plastic covers for the cloth diapers.
  23. Re: Beta testers needed for new MSQC Shipping program

I think you should add in the videos that your sister is making and all others as they become available.

    Re: Finishing Raw Edges

    Same here!

One time I made DH a flannel quilt using flannel fat quarters. I set up my serger in front of the TV and serged the edges of 30 Fat Quarters!
  25. Re: Anyone use something besides batting to quilt with?

When you quilt with a lot of thickness such as fleece or minky on the back, use a walking foot and increase the stitch length to "3". You might also have to loosen the tension on the walking foot. ...
