Re: Bluprint/Craftsy classes FREE this week

Does anyone know when the last day to watch free is ?
  2. Re: What do you dislike about your sewing machine?

I have a Janome 8900 QCP. I love it, mostly. It has lots of harp space, great for fmq, except there are some visibility issues, especially when trying to see behind the needle. Another small...

Re: Cotton sateen as quilt backing

I used this fabric (in the red color) to back a quilt. It feels very soft and cuddly. She will love it!
  5. Re: Sewing Machine Suggestions for sorta newbie

I have the Janome 8077. I think it is very similar to the Magnolia. it's a decent enough machine for a starter. It sews well for a machine this size and is easy to transport to classes and such. ...

    Re: Cutting machines

If what you want to do is cut fabric for piecing, then the AccuQuilt is the way to go. It is specifically designed for cutting fabric for piecing or applique. The silhoutte requires that fabric be...

    Re: Half-Square Triangle question

I think starch is your friend when making HST's. I like to starch all the fabric before I cut into it. I find it really helps with dealing with the bias stretch.

    Re: HST conundrum

I think the trick is to just use it randomly. If your whole quilt has the words (or directional print) all going in various directions it won't matter. That's what I do so that I don't drive myself...

    Re: New quilter!

For my first few quilts I decided to be "economical" and used less expensive solids rather than the designer fabrics that were used for the front of the quilts. I wish I had used prettier fabric on...

    Re: Snowballing and fabric waste.

I made this dresser topper from the left over triangles left from snowballing blocks for this quilt. An easy way to get your HST's sewn is to use the triangles as leaders and enders while you are...
  12. Re: Sapphire 960Q free motion NEED HELP - thread shreads itself!

Are you using polyester thread? I find that it is stronger than cotton and better for fmq. I like Isacord . Make sure you are using a new needle. Good luck.

    Re: boarder

You could try doing a meander. There are classes on Craftsy that you can watch on how to quilt negative space or how to quilt borders. I am pretty sure that all of the classes are on sale right now.

    Re: triangles on a roll

I use them. I belong to the HST group. We are making 2" HST's for swapping with other group members. The papers work great. I find that the lines on the paper can be a little tricky on the eyes,...

  17. Re: What Are You Watching on Craftsy All Access Pass?

This is such a great offer. I've had my eye on a few classes including the ones with Edyta Sitar, Angela Walters, and quilt as you go technique. I am going to try to learn as much as I can in a...

  21. Re: My first (and probably last) block on a quilting blog!

I just want to add that your blocks look like Bonnie's style. Look at the quilt at the top of the page on the her blog. Good job!

    HST table runner done

This will be a Christmas present for my niece. It was made with the leftovers from the quilt I gave her last year. This will go in her bedroom on the dresser. The print fabrics are Ruby by Bonnie...
  25. Re: Whats the cheapest good Quality Rotary Cutter Blade 10 Pack Refills?

I bought a suction lifter to use with my longer rulers for $1.99 at the $.99 Only store. It is black and white (not pretty) but works well.
