    Re: Quilt Steering Committee

Are some of the displays outdoors? If so, shade and some seating.
If there are some other small businesses that would “host” a display, they might also display their goods. Not necessarily textile...

    Re: PLEASE PRAY...

Thoughts for your family and the firefighters injured. Hope everyone is back to health soon. What a scary experience.
  4. Re: Anybody have weird reactions to shingles vax?

Swollen ankles can mean lots of things. I don't think the reaction to the shot was normal. I'm by no means a medical professional, but found this when I googled

    Zostavax: Additional reported side...

Re: Polyester batting and breaking stitches

Well that is frustrating. I usually use 40 wt when quilting but often 50wt as well, depending on the color or what ever I have on the machine already. The only time Ive had stitches come out like...

Re: Polyester batting and breaking stitches

How hard are you pulling or stretching the material? My first guess would be the thread.

  8. Re: Tarantula Migration Expected to Crawl Through Colorado

I used to see tarantulas in early fall when I lived in the foothills east of the bay area. I thought they were sweet, walking along our dirt road looking for love. :icon_hug:

    Re: Hawaiian flower scraps

Your rectangular scraps are a bit smaller than a jolly bar, maybe you could adapt a jolly bar pattern from Fat Quarter Shop?
  10. Re: Quilts for Contest/Competition/Judging dos & don'ts

I know people who use the water soluble blue pens and spray then blot dry to remove the marks v. washing the entire quilt. And use a fabric eraser to erase pencil marks. Some shows are more "relaxed"...
  11. Re: Quilts for Contest/Competition/Judging dos & don'ts

Judges don't like seeing drawn marks for quilting designs - pounce, pencil, etc., aka quilt lines.
If you've ever noticed binding sometimes is somewhat empty inside - the edge of the quilt doesn't...

    Re: cat food help

Anything wrong with Sissie's mouth, like a bad tooth?
Our cat will (luckily) eat any dry kibble, and turns his nose up at canned. He's eating Blue with Life Source Bits now.

Condolences to you and your husband. Saying goodbye to fur and feather babies is the hardest.
  16. Re: Beta testers needed for new MSQC Shipping program

Hi Al - I could say the reason is I like to finish my quilts myself, but the REAL reason is Im too lazy to go to the post office or UPS store and box up my quilt top to send it to Hamilton.
    If I...

    Re: Sometimes we don't know.......

Great story. It's nice to hear they were appreciated, as you said often as makers we don't ever know.
I had one of your bowl cozy fabrics, you have such good taste. :icon_bigsmile:

  19. Re: Beta testers needed for new MSQC Shipping program

I had to reread the beta program twice and I'm still not sure I understand... If I do, under the lowest cost subscription plan my 20th order would actually be free shipping. (19 regular orders...

Re: I Need Your Thoughts on This

Sugar, I think since you messaged your daughter you should read her response, but prepare yourself for the worst. At least then you'll know. And if she changes her tune, were it me I would do my best...
  21. Re: Another shipping story, another customer disappointed, another customer who loves MSQC

Hopefully DHL for international, or if they must stick with Fed Ex, they drop surepost altogether. I think it's great M* responded and are addressing the issue.

Re: Venting, do you think I was out of line

Nope, shes out of line, not you. The onesie / cloth diaper decoration projects Ive done are with fabric pens, not paint. And they were on a side table, so people could decorate them at their...

    Re: Oliso iron

Another posibility, the outlet could be faulty. I have one that tripped (or whatever they do) when I used the hairdrier in the bathroom. It would only work sometimes.
  24. Re: I may be revamping my pattern storage. Your opinions needed.

I have exactly one printed pattern and everything else is digital. I particularly like that I can categorize the electronic files in any method that makes sense to me. I think you will like it.
  25. Re: Warm n' Tater vs. regular batting - can you tell a difference?

I remember reading somewhere warm & natural has poly in the scrim, in which case it would probably catch fire in the microwave. I wouldn't use an unknown batt in the bowls. Maybe you could make...
