    Re: Storage Inspiration

Quilters need a lot of storage. We all look for great
storage for our sewing rooms. Organization is the
key. A place for everything and everything in
it’s place. I want to spend my time wisely ...

    Re: Batik yardage price

I buy my Batiks from Hancock’s of Paducah.
They usually run $6.99/$7.99 a yard.
Good quality fabrics, they may not be
a special line of fabric so they can keep prices down.
    They have such a large...

    Re: Mettler Metrosene threads

Mettler Metrosene is a polyester thread.
I tried cotton thread years ago and it
Leaves a lot of lint. I asked a

He said to use polyester because
    it is...
  4. Re: Question about 505 Spray use and dry cleanng

Quilts should be washed in a mild soap.
Dry cleaners use harsh toxic chemicals.
These chemicals are hard on the cotton fabric.
Plus these toxic chemicals leave a toxic chemical
    smell which is a...
  5. Re: Question about 505 Spray use and dry cleanng

I checked online and there does appear to be two
different 505 Temporary adhesives. One says for
basting quilts. The other one does not say this
on the front of the can. It is used for machine...
  6. Re: Question about 505 Spray use and dry cleanng

Are you sure you are using 505 Tempirary spray ?
I just read my Temporary spray and nowhere does
it say anything about dry cleaning.
I use 505 Temporary spray for machine
    embroidery only.
    I...

Re: Books, Elm Creek Quilts by J. Chiaverini

Iíve read several of her books. I really liked them.
I borrow them from our local library.
I think as a quilter you would enjoy them.
Be sure to start with the first book.

    Re: yummy apricot bread

I plan to use apricot jam when I make my bread.
You said the bread was dry. Using the apricot
jam should keep the bread from being so dry.
Nothing’s better in the winter than home made bread....

Re: Disappearing 9 patch Fabric amounts

Every time you make a quilt buy a little more
yardage than you need1/4-1/2 yard more.
This will allow you to start a fabric stash.
    Great for future scrappy quilts.

Re: Should I add a border?

I think a border would be a personal opinion.
I would lay the quilt down and lay different
fabrics along the edges so it appears to have
a border. Try different fabrics and different
    widths....
  12. Re: Mirror, Mirror" On the Wall... ( new jordan fabrics tutorial )

Great quilt pattern. I’m going to narrow my strips
and make the blocks smaller. I prefer making
lap quilts instead of the larger quilts.
I liked Donnas colored fabric better than the
    black...

    Re: Would there be interest?

I joined a block swap from another quilting forum.

    Re: Triangles

You never cut squares that would leave bias
edges to work with. The best way to make your
Triangles with no bias edges are-
Cut your squares 1 inch bigger than your
    pattern calls for. Place two...

    Re: Polyester fleece blanket batting?

Polyester and cotton fabrics will shrink differently
when washed. It’s usually not a good idea to
    mix polyester and cotton fabrics.
When you say cotton sheeting do you mean you
    are going to cut...
