    Re: Quilting with flannel

I think the most important thing is prewashing. Also when I work with flannel I tend to make simple blocks with large pieces. I save the more intricate piecing for plain cotton quilting fabric.
  2. Re: When is a quilt just too ugly to continue?

I personally really like it. In the past I've had quilts I wasn't crazy about but then after quilting I loved them. Quilting just adds so much. On the other hand I have a quilt I'm working on with...

    Bowl Cozies

Just a question for makers of bowl cozies. Most of the tutorials I've seen call for two layers of batting. The one I was gifted only has one layer and seems to work fine. I made a couple with two...

    Re: Smaller machine for piecing

This is my traveler as well and I love it. I use it for retreats and classes and my 5th wheel. I have the Janome 6600 at home and like that the feet are interchangeable.
  6. Re: Look how busy our forum friends have been donating

GrammaBabs graciously sent me a note. It was a free pattern from All People Quilt - Roaring Waves in case anyone else is interested.

Re: - Written patterns or not

I always cut just for one block first. I need instant gratification and I want to see if I will like the block or not. If I like it then I will usually cut for several blocks at a time. The only time...

    Re: She is back !

This former child of the SW loves this quilt. I like watching Angela quilt too because it's nice to see her quilt on a domestic as well as a longarm. Thanks for sharing.

Re: The top is done..or is it ?

I'm in agreement with Bubby. I almost think additional borders would detract from your gorgeous quilt. I have a feathered star quilt that is also square. I lay mine diagonally over a solid colored...

  23. Re: hello, newbie, looking for quilting machine purchase help

I have a Janome MC6600 P. I love it! It has been a workhorse. I originally bought it just for FMQ. At the time I was still piecing on a Bernina but wanted more throat space for quilting. I love this...

    Re: Babylock Melody

I know some people do recommend setting stitch length to zero when FMQ but I have never done that. I just drop the feed dogs and control the stitch length by how fast the machine is going and how...
