    Re: fmq on Frolic

    Beautiful!

Swirls look great. Have you thought about using straight lines for the border? Using the fabric design and stitch it. Kind of a modern looking keyboard design.

Re: Are there border width rules?

I also look at the quilt and then decide. I made the large tumbler quilt where the pieced top almost fits the top of a queen mattress. It's a black, red and white quilt with more black than red. I...

    Re: Looking for block patterns

I purchased my groovy board from Babylock/Tuscany headquarters in Fenton, Mo. I took a workshop there for my Babylock Crown Jewel II a little over four years ago.

    Re: Looking for block patterns

I have the feather groovy board but have not used it. I use a lot of paper pantos.

Right now I have one on the frame that I'm using a couple of Angela Walters rulers made by Creative Grids. ...

I'm doing good. Hope you are keeping warm with all this strange weather we have been experiencing. First warm, then cold, then warm again. Poor groundhog must be very confused!

Re: I really need to ask....

I agree about it shifting. I would do a stitch in the ditch on all major seams starting from the middle that way it is stabilized for your embroidery machine.

My last large quilt I spray basted ...

    Re: Free Motion Quilting Question

Definitely practice first so you can check your tension.

Good rule of thumb - if the thread looks good on top but not the bottom, its usually the top tension that needs adjusting. If the top...
  16. Re: Beeswax thread conditioner. What is it used for??

If you run your thread through it, it helps keep the thread from tangling up (hand sewing).

Re: Augh! Sewed through my finger

Ouch! Done that and don't want to do it again!

Hope it heals quickly. The small owies hurt more than the big ones. And you don't realize how much you use that finger!
  19. Re: Longarm machine question: Baby Lock = Handi Quilter?

I also suggest calling Babylock to see if it would work.

I was at Babylock headquarters a few years back and asked them why the machines look so much like Handiquilter. I was told that there are...

Re: Is there an easier way?

I made this from a kit. It was frustrating. You have to make sure the seams are exactly in the center of the pieces above and below. I did not realize this at first so I have some rectangles...

Re: How Would You Quilt This Top?

Are you a member of a quilt guild? If so, ask if any of the quilters would like to do a trade. Maybe trade a quilt top for quilting or hand sewing binding down on their quilts.
