    I hand quilt, and use Crayola Ultra-clean fine line markers in all colors, or a white Clover pen for really dark fabrics. They don't rub off much while I'm quilting, but a quick soak in cold water...

    That's similar to what we used to feed horses to get rid of sarcoids without surgery. It mostly worked too.

    I have a person who does it professionally. I bought my scissors in 1983 and they are still going. PLENTY of miles on them. Ask at your local fabric store, or where fine cutlery is sold.
