  5. Re: Jordan Fabrics tour of their company & store

It does look like a fun place to visit! I hope on my next trip to SFO to visit my sister to take a road trip up there - it is about a 5 hour drive so may involve an overnight stay.

Re: Anyone else thought about this?

Not necessarily. Many, maybe most, vintage machines were left behind by people who have passed away. As far as more "options" - for basic piecing, which the OP was considering a second machine for,...

Re: Anyone else thought about this?

That's why I use vintage machines. I have a computerized machine but never use it. If it was to crash, it would be in the garbage, they are too expensive to repair. Sadly, no matter how much you pay...
  8. Re: Make a "Fancy Flight" Quilt with Jenny Doan

    Definitely works!

Pretty quilt....Like the way she alternated the light and dark backgrounds in the columns. Since it was an uneven number of columns, you wouldn't have equal numbers of lights and...

    Re: Midnight quilt show

I agree. She will be around. I prefer it when they have their own youtube channels - no membership - just watch what you want. I don't know how all that works as far as compensation goes, but...

    Re: Quilting

The best advice I ever got for machine quilting was to starch, starch then starch again - especially for the backing. It will help to prevent those little tucks that can get stitched into the backs.

Re: Make a "Building Blocks" Quilt with Jenny Doan

Really love the look and the fabric. I am somewhat bothered by the fact there is no "sashing" on the left or bottom. What would happen if each row was reversed? It's still a beautiful quilt, but that...

    Thank You!

I know we will be going to the Ellsworth location, but may stop at others in our travels. We are flying Southwest so we can take an extra suitcase to bring home our goodies ;-). Will...

    Quilts shops in Maine?

We will be in Maine next month for a week. Will spend the first night in Portland and then go to the vacation rental between Bangor and Ellsworth.

    I plan to hit Mardens - a must - and Knight's...

    Happy Labor Day to all!

27 years ago today I gave birth to my youngest daughter. So hard to believe how time flies. She was born on 09-02-92. At 9:17 a.m. I always tease her that she was 15...

Re: Looking for Broccoli Salad Recipe

There are many different variations. Two I really like. One is made with florettes, bacon, cheese, raisins, onions and a sweet mayo dressing (Sweet Tomatoes serves this one) and the other is made...

    Re: Charms on point expanded

Now that makes sense. I was trying to figure out beginning with a square, not a rectangle. Thanks Myrna!

I have to "see" it too.

    Re: Charms on point expanded

I can't open the link on this computer, but have been playing around with paper and I see how that can be done! Cut the large square diagonally, then cut one of the resulting triangles in half and...

    Re: Charms on point expanded

I am making this larger by making two squares - 8 x 8. Like others said, It will still be square. Probably the easiest way to make a rectangle is to put wider borders on two sides.

    To figure out...
  25. Re: Prayers being said for all of our friends in Florida

Latest forecast has it moving farther off to the east. Good for Florida but bad for coastal Georgia and the Carolinas. Our friends in those areas need our prayers and to prepare if they haven’t. This...
