    Re: Challenge Quilt

I would estimate most of the pieces in the skirt are about 6" X 6" - a few bigger and some smaller but it uses fairly large pieces of fabric.

    Re: Challenge Quilt

This is actually a pattern called “The Dress” that I took some creative liberty with.

    Challenge Quilt

My quilt guild's challenge this year started with a sealed brown paper bag. Inside the bag was a bunch of fabric. Everyones was different. The fabric below is what was in my bag.

    The challenge...

    Your favorite appetizer recipe

Our quilt guild is having their Christmas party in two weeks. Everyone is supposed to bring an appetizer. I am very lucky as my husband does virtually all the cooking for us. But appetizers are...

    Re: Rag quilt

I myself don't use batting but instead put flannel in the middle. Generally I use 100% cotton for front and back and flannel for the middle. I know some folks use flannel for both the middle and...

Re: Make a "Milestones" Quilt with Jenny Doan

That would work also. They are putting together the block like a log cabin. Normally with a log cabin you don't use the same fabric all the way around so you use the different lengths. But as this...

Re: Laura Heine Collage Quilt Question

Following as I am about to start straight line stitching on a collage quilt also. It is unusual for one of her patterns as it is mainly larger pieces but I was also worried about going through all...

    Re: Jelly rolls

another trick is to cut each jelly roll in half if your pattern will allow it. That way instead of sewing 40+ inches together you are sewing a shorter length - just doing it twice. Even if you...

Re: I just had to get it.

Try dryer sheets - fresh out of the package. Let the iron get almost totally cool and wipe the spot with a dryer sheet. I have found they take almost anything off a warm iron. Including the sticky...

Claire - I had the same thought. I kept waiting for her to mention it.

    Re: Help!

I don't know the pattern but depending on how you put them together, they may need to be the same width and height. Without seeing a picture of the pattern this is just a guess. Can you call the...

    Re: Backing question

I have found every time I buy 108" backing it tends to be wonky. Much more so than normal width fabric. As I usually make sure I have plenty of extra length/width it is normally not an issue. I...

Re: Make an "Old Mill Path" Quilt with Jenny Doan

Yikes - 2 curved quilts in a row. Some day I will try to tackle curves but I have enough other quilts I want to make that day is not here yet. :-)

Re: What is this pattern called?

Not sure of the name but I am currently working on a Mariners Compass quilt and believe it or not - that looks like it goes together in the same basic way.
  18. Re: Anyone use a Sizzix or other fabric die cutting machine?

I have the accuquilt go. It does take some cranking but I don’t find that an issue. I just cut out a flying geese border. Did all the pieces in about 15 minutes once I had my fabric ready. As...

Thanks. I am going to try this the next time as I often struggle with my binding strips.

Love the idea of making the center with minky or chenille. How sweet would that be?

I'm with old man quilts. This can be an expensive habit and I have to admit my first couple quilts were far from things of beauty but I was still happy with them. It is like anything - practice...

    Re: Ruler quilting

Top stitch is a type of needle. It is used for free motion quilting. So Denise is saying to look for a 100/16 needle. If you can find one that says Top Stitch that is even better. I am not sure...
