    Re: Steam from Irons

Funny. What you refer to as "steam into submission" I refer to as persuasive pressing.

I do use steam but press rather than iron as Bubby mentions.
  3. Re: It's Thursday and the last day of October WOW!!

I'm glad you found a new 6600. I have one too and love it! My favorite machine ever.

Re: Choices in making a will

This is exactly what my Mom used to tell us :) BTW there were no problems.
  5. Re: How do you presssesms openwithout burning your fingers?

I am a big fan of the Strip sticks too. Clover also has a couple handy tools, the Iron Finger and a Precision Stiletto. They are both heat resistant and you can use them to seams open.

    Re: Self binding baby quilt

I usually make my center square 30" and the larger square 40". Using this size I end up with about a 2.5" border/binding. Today quite by accident I used a 30" center and a 38" larger square, because...

    Re: Janome3165QDC

I wondered if that were the case. I have a 3160 that I bought for classes, retreats, etc. I love mine. Sorry you have had issues with yours.

    Re: Janome3165QDC

I'm just curious about this model number - 3165 QDC. I can't find anything on that model.

    Re: Sewing basket or what

I'm fortunate that I have a room dedicated to quilting/sewing so I just try to keep everything corralled in that room. I use different baskets that hold rulers, scissors, rotary cutters, etc. I...
  10. Re: Sending Out a Quilt Top to be Finished or DIY?

I have always wanted to finish all my own quilts. There have been a handful I've sent out. Those were large quilts and/or for a special occasion and I wanted them to be nicer than I could do them. I...

Re: Quilted But Not A Quilt

Knowing absolutely nothing about machine embroidery I'm trying to figure out how this was done. It is so beautiful and perfectly finished

I'm away from home so I can't check the name but I know it is from Terry Atkinson's Happy Hour book.

    Anniversary quilt

    160725

This is a recently finished quilt for my sister. It is all batiks and "quilted to death". I liked this pic because it shows the texture of the quilting. Even though it is heavily quilted,...

Re: Looking for a font for baby quilt

1st off what a handsome baby boy. Congratulations. What I've done when I needed lettering for applique is to purchase a couple alphabet stencils (Hobby Lobby, Michaels, etc). Just inexpensive...

    Re: Selling question

I was forgetting the fact it was a 6600. Those are hard to take to retreats and classes. I have one too (and love it) but it doesn't leave home.

    Re: Selling question

In the past I have kept a machine as backup because they just wouldn't give me a fair trade in value. I have also sold one to a guild member for a fairly decent price. Good luck.

    Re: Sewing room??

Lucky you. I like having a tall cutting station in my room. I bought a buffet on clearance and it's the perfect height. It has the advantage of storage underneath - drawers, two cupboards and book...

    Re: Nylon Thread

I realize you were talking about pre-wound bobbins. I was using the term "invisible" because the nylon thread was often referred to as that. It usually comes in either clear or grey. The grey is...

    Re: Nylon Thread

I have used "invisible" thread but the nylon thread of early days was terrible. As mentioned above like fishing line. I hadn't heard of this being used as a bobbin thread, only top thread. And I have...
