  1. Re: Free-Motion Challenge Quilting Along Week 1: Getting Started

What is this and where can I find out information? I'm dying to learn to quilt on my machine instead of a LA.

    Re: FYI SPARROW QUILT

I've noticed many things that are on the Sparrow page are actually made in the USA, and are available through their manufacturer. I was at the Martelli booth at a quilt show in the fall and...

Re: Please help me figure this out

I agree with some of the others, why not make them 2.25 or 2 inches instead of 2.5. I've used 2.25 before and it was a problem at all. I actually prefer it sometimes.

    Re: scant 1/4 question

Some great info here for sure! I always seem to have trouble getting a consistent seam allowance and it drives me nuts. I have a Baby Lock Unity and I use the 1/4 foot, and I always use Aurofil 50...

    Re: Your favorite pattern?

Deegles - I love your quilt! I may have to try that one with some of my stash.
  6. Re: Need a quick pattern for lots of left over strips, squares and rectanges - crib size

Sorry to be ignorant - but is cutting corners a pattern?
  7. Re: Need a quick pattern for lots of left over strips, squares and rectanges - crib size

toggpine - this is cute. I wonder if it's in a Block magazine or tutorial?
  8. Re: Need a quick pattern for lots of left over strips, squares and rectanges - crib size

KarenC - I have been leaning towards that. Maybe some rail fence, alternated with 4 patch and then squares cut of the larger pieces I have that would be the same size as the rail fence and 4 patch. ...
  9. Re: Need a quick pattern for lots of left over strips, squares and rectanges - crib size

Vonnie, I love that idea - just don't know about the quilting part. I rent a LA from a LQS and I've only done edge to edge either meandering or used the laser pantograph side. I really want to...
  10. Need a quick pattern for lots of left over strips, squares and rectanges - crib size

Does anyone know of a pattern I could use for a crib size or maybe a little smaller that I could use up the left over fabric from a quilt I made for my great nephew. His new baby brother that is two...

    Re: New Here...Starch Question

I used to always use Best Press, but then when I heard about the Faultless starch in the white can (can't remember what it's called), I found that it gives more body than Best Press in my opinion. I...

    Re: Tools for making HST

I don't own a HST ruler and want to get one. I've been seeing a lot about the Essential Ruler by Bonnie Hunter and the Easy Angle Ruler by Sharon Hultgren on the Quiltville Blog. Has anyone ever...
  13. Re: Where can I get the round fabric organizer that hold quilting tools?

That's what I was looking for! Ordering it now! I'm on a mission to get my stuff organized before I start another quilt. I'm taking a break until the new year (maybe)!:)
  14. Where can I get the round fabric organizer that hold quilting tools?

I've seen a couple of quilting tool organizers lately, but don't remember where I saw them. They were round and had sections for scissors, rotary cutters, etc. and were made of fabric and I believe...

    Re: Walking foot problem

My LQS owner said she uses her WF for binding and uses the blind stitch all the time. I've never used mine for binding, but might try it this weekend on a quilt I have ready to bind. I hope I don't...
  17. Re: Sewing borders on quilt top - how do you place them?

I printed out the Quiltville blog on this to add to my notebook of "tips and tricks". Thanks for all the sharing of knowledge everyone!

    Re: Please help :)

I had a Pfaff 5.0 for about a year and then decided I wanted to be able to embroider too, so I traded my Pfaff first in for the Pfaff top of the line that does embroidery (can't remember if it's...
  19. Sewing borders on quilt top - how do you place them?

I've always put the borders on the top of the quilt top under the needle when sewing them to the pieced quilt top - is this correct? It makes it easier for me to see that I'm keeping the two layers...

Re: Thread and batting for hand quilting?

Thanks, Star Lover for the information. I had a feeling a hoop would be easier to handle with a smaller area. I need to watch some videos on hand quilting before I tackle it. I've only just been...

Re: Thread and batting for hand quilting?

I've never tried hand quilting, and have that on my bucket list for a small quilt in the near future. For those of you who do it often, do you hoop it or use a large frame?

    Re: Sashing size?

JCY - this is a gorgeous quilt you shared with us. Love your idea of sashing "as you go" instead of after sewing the rows together. I'll definitely try that next time.

    OnPoint Tutorial for power cutting

Over the weekend, I happened onto a video on Facebook for folding fabric to be ready for your projects and power cutting. It was done by Nancy Roelfsema, and was very educational for me.
    After...
