    Re: 2 1/2 inch batting

Yes, you wrap the batting into a 2-1/2 strip of fabric, fold, then stitch shut. There are many rug patterns online now. I believe you can even make bags and purses using the same technique.

    Re: Flannel remnants

Thanks Debbie! That sounds like a good idea. Waste basket quilt is a new name for me. LOL Is that your fun take on scrappy or is that what you call it in Ohio?

    Re: Luxe fabric

Thanks for looking for it gramma terry. I have been in Joann Fabrics, and found luxe in their store. I am sure that this is why I remembered not wanting it because it had stretch. It was soft to...

    Re: What batting to use????

For jjkaiser: I know someone who prewashed her batting. Her goal was to repair and rescue an old quilt. Knowing it had been washed many times over, but needing new batting, she unstitched the...

    Luxe fabric

    Good Morning,
Can anyone tell me why luxe fabric (made from cotton) is sold as quilting cotton? If I remember, it is soft to the touch, but it is stretchy like a poly or rayon. Connecting Threads...

    Re: Hi from Illinois

Hello and welcome! I have been a Chicagoan all my life. I live near O'Hare. I believe I would have a party just to "open bins" and sort through it all! Mimi has the right idea for you to use up a...

Re: Light colored fabric is sheer

Thanks for your quick input ladies. You are right Pretty Curious. Its not what I want to hear, it must have been wishful thinking on my part for asking. But if anyone out there was using an...
  14. Re: is anyone doing this years leader ender challenge?

I think I understand why you hesitate with your neutral choices. I am also trying this leader/ender project, but I keep changing my mind on the neutrals. I have pulled out all my florals, but, I am...

    Light colored fabric is sheer

Can anyone tell me what to do with light colored fabrics that are kind of sheer. I thought the fabric was a great blender, but it isn't the same quality as my darker colored squares. I have...

    Re: What size quilt

Another consideration I have heard is to make the quilt extra long, if the user wants to cover her pillows.

Re: Finished quilt - smooth or wrinkled

Thanks to all of you who shared your experience. I think I would try preshrinking the batting - possibly the fabric - for my daughter. Also use stitch in the ditch and not all over quilting for her.

Re: Finished quilt - smooth or wrinkled

Thanks for input. I have been using a simple meander and paisley all-over stitch on my domestic sewing machine. Then I wash the quilt before giving it away. My quilts all crinkle. I thought the...

Finished quilt - smooth or wrinkled
