    Re: Jennys new Iron

I just went to Joann Fabric over lunch. The yellow Oliso iron is regularly $199 but is on sale 30% off, bringing it to $140. I was going to say the 20% off entire coupon would bring it down even...

Re: I just had to get it.

I love my Oliso. I've had it for a number of years now. At one point, I did have trouble with it turning off or the feet wouldn't retract. Oliso has a great customer service. For $70, you return...

    Re: Looking for Fabric

I believe I found it but it's in the UK. But, if you really need it, it might be worth it. http://www.jbquiltingfabrics.co.uk/shop/prints-by-collection-c-211/arbor-hill-c-211_128/

    Re: Hello from PA

Hello and welcome from NJ! You are blessed to live so close to many quilt shops. There are hardly any left in New Jersey. Lancaster county is where I mostly shop for fabric. Burkholders is my...

    Re: Rainy day project

Very pretty! I thought the same thing when I made one once - way too time consuming for such a small ornament!

    Re: Wool Pressing Mat Brand

All wool mats smell when using steam. It's like a wet wool sweater. Smell doesn't bother me one bit.

    Re: Wool Pressing Mat Brand

I bought mine at a quilt show and I think I paid about $35. I love it, especially for flat seams and applique. After I had already purchased mine, I saw a tip from someone (on here? not sure) to...

Re: Sapphire 835 Husqvarna Viking help

I would imagine you could get a new bobbin assembly from Singer. If they don't have it, it is equivalent to the Janome 1600. It would be worth a shot.
  11. Re: I Disliked Joining Strips - I Started Using QR's Mini-Triangle Ruler

Thanks for the great tip! It makes a lot of sense and easier to do it this way.

    Re: Need a sewing machine

I've heard a lot of good things about the Brother PQ1500SL and it is a very reasonable price. I love the Brother machine I have.

    Re: Need a sewing machine

I disagree that you get what you pay for. I think some of the more expensive machines are marketed to make people believe they Need something like this to produce better work. Yes, I'm sure they...

Re: satin binding - make or pre-made?

Re: satin binding - make or pre-made?

It is 4 inches wide, single fold, making it 2 inches for front and 2 inches for back. I did not see it premade any narrower.

Re: satin binding - make or pre-made?

Thank you for your sharing your experience with the pre-made. It got me thinking that I didn't plan all too well with this rag quilt and the satin binding. I guess I didn't realize that it would...
