    Re: Question regarding batiks

I heard that fabric pens are the better suggestion because those permanent markers will bleed over time into surrounding fabric.
  2. When in Portugal and you just have to quilt...

I just returned from Portugal on vacation and of course looked at quilting stores. Many fabric stores were for the dress poly fabrics , but I did find two that you could rely on for 100% cotton for...

    Re: Jelly Roll Race Advice

I think adding solids would be wonderful since it would calm down all of the movement in the prints. I did a JRR when I first learned to quilt and that was my only regret. My colours seem to blend...
  4. Re: Vote for MSQC in the Forbes Main Street Awards

Remember, vote every day, and get the DH to vote also. We're still in the lead but not by a ton.

    Re: New Scissors?

Since I use them for cutting my fabric, I bought the 8 inch I think. Can't do without them. The size you want depends on the job they will be used for. It'll be the last pair you'll ever have to buy.

Re: Found Jenny, how bout you?

She is in so many pics-will she be wearing the red and white outfit when we find the correct pic of her? I'll keep looking.
  9. Re: WIP - week of April 25th -April Showers?

I love your felt food, gives me some ideas for my grand daughters mini kitchen set.
As for me, I ordered a new book on paper piecing, stars. I never thought they could be that hard to get just...

    Re: May I Vent?

Customer service is what makes or breaks a company , now, before and tomorrow. Yes, you need a good quality product, but after that , if the service stinks, it's not worth much.

First, good hubby award goes to you.
Second, give her some classes to do some beginner quilting at a store close by that supplies the machines , so she can test drive a few, then let her pick out...

  14. Re: Do you sew backing seams horizontal or vertical?

Strange, I just finished watching a bunch of videos about long arms and how to set them up , etc, all the way to the sewing part...and they suggested to put the back seams vertically to help avoid...

    Re: My Ruler Storage Solution!

I've adopted your idea, and found out I hadn't noticed that you need to add a string through the hole in the rulers to get them to hang, took me a moment there, lol. It works well, thanks for the...
  18. Re: WIP - March 4 - in like a lion or a lamb?

March came in like a lion for us also in Québec, a chilly -20 C with winds, but at least we had some sun. I'm finishing a baby quilt that I've been asked to make for a local competition. I've learned...

Re: Double layer of wool batting test

I like the idea of a thinker batting, and wonder if you baste the batting lightly before you do the sandwich would it move less? Just a thought.

    Re: What's the trick?

I agree with sonbird857- if you take the time to pin carefully in the beginning at the 1/4 inch seam, pretty soon you will master it and it will become much easier. Good luck.
  23. Re: Missouri star block using charm packs?

I agree. It looks like there are some 2.5 inch squares made into HST. The trick is to map out the pattern.

Re: What do you do with?

There's lots of places that I'm sure would appreciate a donated quilt if you decide you don't want it in your car.
