    Re: Diamond Chain Pattern

I think that would be right because I thought she said to use one charm pack to make the HST's and use the 2nd charm pack to make the chain. I will go back and rewatch it quickly and update this if...

Cute quilt but I am not ready to give curves a spin. I have enough trouble with straight lines!

    Re: Unicorn panel quilt

That border really makes the quilt. I would have never thought to use that. Beautiful quilt.
  4. Re: Make a "Diamond Chain" Quilt with Jenny Doan

I love this one. I have a ton of charms and seem to rarely find a pattern I like that uses them. This has the potential to be a go to pattern.

    Re: Butterfly Sunshine Lattice

Huh. I really didn't like this pattern when Jenny did it but it is amazing how different fabric changes up the whole look. I like this a lot.

    Re: Lightweight solution?

Another suggestion is the fewer the seams, the less the weight. Maybe a simple panel with a few borders. Once you start sewing all those small pieces together it does keep getting heavier and...

Re: Big Big Mistake on My First Log Cabin Quilt

Another option if you don't mind a little bit of ripping is to take all four of the outer strips off that cut block. Then take another block and remove two of the outer strips. Sew those 2 strips...

Re: Cute pattern for cat lovers

His chicken quilt is cute and easy too. I would have to at least tack down the beak and comb on it but it would be a quick one to put together.

    Re: What would you do?

I also love Terial Magic. I cut it about half with water and use it in place of starch when I really don't want something to stretch. It is also great to use to stiffen up fabric a little if you...

Re: Make a "Night Sky" Quilt with Jenny Doan

Cute, cute, cute. It got a little rushed with that sashing strip but I am sure I could figure it out. I really like this done in the bright colors.

Those are wonderful and so generous of her.
  13. Re: What size needle do you use when binding a quilt?

I use what is in my machine. So either an 80 or a 90. I think the 90 does work a little better at going through all the layers. I abhor hand sewing so I do my bindings in the machine.

    Wedding Quilt

Not your usual wedding quilt but the couple were both raised in Maryland and they both graduated from University of Maryland. So a MD state flag quilt with U of MD back.

Re: Classic Coffee Layer Cake Quilt + Giveaway!

At first I was just kind of ehh. But the more I looked at it the more I liked it. I may give this one a try.

    Re: odd question

You could also do something like this:

Pick out a couple coordinating solids and use the fabric you have as the main...

    Re: Stitch Regulators

I have a Bernina with a stitch regulator. I do find it helps but it is not a total solution. You still need to try to keep a steady even flow or your stitches will still not be the same length. ...

Re: How to figure sashing, border fabric quantities

The pattern says you need 3 3/4 yards for the sashing, stars and inner border.

It calls for 2 yards for the outer border as the pattern uses some of that fabric within the quilt itself.

    If you...

I have used batik precuts and never prewashed them. I do use color catchers when I wash it for the first time.

Re: Make a "Rose Garden" Quilt with Jenny Doan

By the way - I really like this quilt. And I love the way she brought the one block out into the border. This one goes on my ever expanding list of quilts I want to make.

Re: Make a "Rose Garden" Quilt with Jenny Doan

If you listen closely she says to use a scant 1/4 seam from the center line when you are sewing them. So in essence, she is slightly less than 1/4 from the center line on both sides. That is how...

    Re: Fabric prints with words

I use that type of fabric a lot as I prefer that to plain white for most patterns. My rule is, if it is going to be a big piece of fabric (like a 10" square) then I will make them all face the same...

    Re: Sewing Strips

If the strips are all the same width, I saw a tip where a lady put painters tape to the left of the needle where the strips should end, i.e. if the strips are 2 1/2" then at the 2 1/4" mark. So...
