  1. Re: Jenny On The Road !!!! She's Coming To Michigan!!

I live in Oakland county - about an hour way from Ypsi, give or take - so I think I'll ask around at my Sit and Sew to see if anyone else is interested in going. Sounds like fun and that's right...
  2. Re: Have you cut the cord with cable TV? Looking for advice

We got rid of cable TV years ago (can't remember how many) and have been using Roku since then. Don't miss the cable at all. We have subscriptions to Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime, but with Roku...
  3. Re: Make a Snail Trail Quilt with Jenny! New Tutorial !

I found this Snail Trail tutorial on the Alanda Craft web site a couple of weeks ago. I liked it because she gives all of the sizes to cut the pieces and it has very clear pictures & instructions,...

Re: picture update on wool quilt

Oh wow...I understand how sick you must feel - I know I sure would. I hope you have a successful resolution to the problem.

I did want to say though, that I hope this doesn't discourage you or...
  5. Re: Put the last stitches in the binding last night

I love Escher too, and one of these quilts is on my (very long) to-do list. BEAUTIFUL job! :icon_cool:
  6. Re: What Kind of Quilty Goodies Did You Get for Christmas?

Every year my kids ask me what I want, so a few years ago I started a "Gifts for Mom" wish list on Amazon and I just send them the link. This year the list was equally divided between quilty things...

Re: Interesting way to stop rulers from slipping

I use Nexcare tape on mine. I used to use those clear stick-on dots, but the tape is cheaper and works better.

Re: Wool suiting as backing? Possible??

The only thing I would say is that that would probably make the quilt extremely heavy. Whether or not it would be too heavy...who knows? Some people like extremely heavy, so it's a personal...

Re: Wool suiting as backing? Possible??

I use mostly QD wool batting in my quilts and there is minimal shrinkage with that (it's super washed wool, so treated so that it doesn't shrink much at all), but I've also used vintage wool flannel...

    Re: Quilting a Bargello

I don't have anything to add about quilting one of these but just had to say that this quilt is GORGEOUS!

I've been considering adding a wave bargello to my "bucket list" for a while now, but...

    Re: Cast iron skillet ?

Yes, they will clean glass, but according to Cook's Illustrated (you just KNOW they had to test these things!), if you're not very careful they will scratch. They also said they can clean stainless...

    Re: Cast iron skillet ?

I've used my self-cleaning oven to strip old and grodey cast iron skillets. It takes them right down to the original finish and you get a clean oven too! Just need to make sure you have good...

    Re: Funny Husband

I'm blessed with one of those enabler husbands too. Most of the time, anyway.

We went to Shipshewana in September and when we were shopping at Yoder's I found a nice neutral blender that I really...

    Re: Thimble Question/Opinion

I use the Clover Natural Fit leather thimble on the middle finger of my right hand and rubber Quilter's Tips or silicone needle pullers on my thumb and index finger. I don't use anything on my left...

Re: Can you put wool batting in the dryer

I haven't used the Hobbs wool batting, but I made my son a quilt with the Quilter's Dream wool and it's been machine washed and dried a few times and it still looks fine. And he washed it in hot...

Re: Wow! DD already sold out!

I must have gotten in right under the wire, because I ordered that and the 10" square template and when I looked at the page with the daily deal on it about an hour later, it was for the micron pens....

    Re: Shibori? Today's DD -Sat.

I love to do Sashiko and I love indigo fabrics, so that DD really got me excited! However, we just got back from Shipshewana the week before last and my husband not only gave me carte blanche with...

    Re: Larkspur Layer Cake Question

It is beautiful fabric! I bought two of the layer cakes a while back (king size bed.) I plan to just sew the squares together without cutting them, and put a border on it. Easy, and so pretty!

  25. Re: Allergy to Chemical in fabric...Anyone else dealing wit this?

Are you washing the fabric first? That was my first thought...

They use so many chemicals to finish fabric and I'm sensitive to a lot of them, so I always pre-wash.
