    August Theme

Pamelaocy is naming our August Theme:

    1930's

Nostalgic? Think 1930's and create a memory of times past. You can use 1930's prints but also don't forget "things Grandma or Grandpa used" that we no longer readily see used anymore.

        Here's my 1930's Pinterest board: https://www.pinterest.com/kbabci/1930s-quilts/

Not to suggest you should make a quilt for this month's project, but it gives you some ideas that you could adapt.

There are lots of 30s reproduction fabrics you could use. I'll need more time to think beyond that. I just may get out some pictures of Grandma and Grandpa to look at to get inspired or jog my memory.

log cabin blocks made with 1930's fabrics...I have not decided yet if I want to do this or a mystery strip quilt using 1930's strips.
either way, it should be fun.

I wish I knew how to use Pinterest better...I would create a board. What I’ve been doing is searching for some of the things from the ideas post and just sticking 1930’s in front of it. For example if you search 1930’s pot holders all kinds of adorable pictures pop up.

Pillowcases, doilies, ...I wonder what 1930’s Christmas tree ornaments looked like?

Pamela, didn't you say you had an embroidery machine? You could probably find some cute old designs of utensils or things Grandma used too and then incorporate one or two of those into a project.

Anything could be made with 30's repro fabrics.

                        Aprons, tea towels, etc.

I have my idea and most of the fabric needed for this one. Decided to combine it with an alternate theme, so it should be wonderful. Sill need to get backing and border fabrics, but I am well on the way to having it complete.

                          Secret Santa 2019

                          About this Group

Membership is now closed for 2019.

We had a lot of fun with the Secret Santa 2018 group last year. A lot of happy people received beautiful handmade gifts from their Secret Santa's. Each person made and received 12 gifts at Christmas that were made throughout the year, one a month based on a given theme. We learned new things, challenged our skills in a non-stressful way and got "down and dirty" creative. Plus at the end of the year we get 12 great gifts for Christmas!

This group is a commitment as you are signing on to create 12 gifts during the year. They can be smaller projects so any challenge is not overly difficult. Choose whatever difficulty you are comfortable with. You may also, twice a year, swap out the named theme for one of your own choosing. You may also purchase rather than hand make 3 items during the year.
