Clue #3: half chevrons + bonus HSTs

I just arrived from work and haven't read through the instructions yet. I don't know if the pieces need to be all the same or we need symmetrical pairs.

The half chevrons seem to be all oriented the same way. I am going to substitute green for grey.

How are your units coming out? With Bonnie's first method (tracing two lines on the back of the neutral squares as guides to stitch), for the units to come the right size the seam allowance is rather small. Of course the cut is on the bias and the seams won't fray. I have made 20 half chevrons and 40 HSTs. Tomorrow at daylight I'll put the units from the different clues side by side and try to play possible layouts.

Yesterday I was doing some math and it appears we have already covered about 62% of the whole quilt. Adding up all the finished sizes of the units of clues #1, #2, #3 we get 3218 square inches (out of the 72x72=5184 square inches which are the total size of the quilt). And we haven't started using orange yet!!!

Clue 3 scared me, lol. I'm doing it Bonnies way and I'm really pleased with the results. Those teeny seam allowances make me nervous though. But, I didn't know that about not fraying because the are cut on the bias, so thank you for that reassurance!

I'm absolutely loving these small units, which surprises me. Now that I bought her triangle tool, I may venture out into smaller/nor intricate piecing because now I know I can be relatively accurate.

I did one and stopped. The line draw will work for the chevron, but I am not understanding the measurement to get the bonus hst. My 2 inch is bigger. I looked and looked at hers and she never gave a dimesion.
