    Week 2 - Autumn Star Block - January 9, 2017

This week, we will complete the Autumn Star Block. Please use this thread to share helpful hints, a photo of your block, or encouragement to those needing a boost!

I'm just going to bump this thread so it comes out on the top.

Psalm 126:3 The LORD has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.

Good morning out there in Farm Girl Vintage world! You can find a picture (or part of it anyway) of my block in the group's profile picture. I did not construct my block by the pattern because I wanted to use my Wing Clipper to make flying geese instead of snowballing rectangles. I don't have much luck with accuracy using the snowball method so I always try to use another method, when I can. You could also make HST instead of the snowballed rectangles and get the same results.

Thanks for joining the sew-a-long. It's been fun seeing everyone's blocks.

Finally finished my apron strings blocks (one of each size) not real happy with my color combos so I spent a great deal of time this morning picking out fabrics for Autumn star this morning. Hope I like this one better.

Procrastinate. It frees up time to quilt!

I really love how this block comes out. If you haven't made yours yet, my tip is that when you are making the star-tip/arrow-ish blocks. She has us make one half at a your seams in opposite directions. It really makes a difference in how easy they go together, and I don't think it's clear in the instructions. I hope that makes sense!
Come by and see what I'm up to on my blog...

Thanks Summer for the tip on the star block. I will keep that in mind when I work on it.
I am a quilter and my house is in pieces.

            About this Group

This group will be our meeting place for a sew-a-long for Lori Holt's Farm Girl Vintage book. We can use this meeting place to share our blocks, ask questions, seek help, and encourage each other.

I'm excited to get started with these blocks and hope to meet others interested in the same.

Now is the time to get your book and fabrics together for a January 2017 kick off!
