I am looking forward to getting home to try this one out. Hoping my side kick ruler will work for making this block.

      Daaaaang, pdjewelrylady!

Let me guess .... you're an overachiever, aren't you?

Nice work! Your constant fabric looks great, btw.

Is anyone else having an issue with the 3 1/2 inch. The center of the quilt block (tip of the triangle) to the raw edge is the right distance, but when I sew the two half triangles to the other side something is happening causing an 1/8 inch loss. What am I doing wrong? Is anyone else having this issue? When I look at Bonnie's photos of hers, hers have that optical illusion.

Carah, I'm afraid the Sidekick ruler will not work for this. I tried it too, although I already had the Tri Recs set. I traced my Spike piece of the set and then set my Sidekick over it to show you it is just a little bit off. It's in the pictures section. Sorry,

Deegles, you scared me! I had sewn some last night, but I didn't press or square up. Now I did and my units need a sliver off here and there but the peak of the triangle is right at the 1 3/4" mark on my ruler. Not sure what you mean by optical illusion. Is your second Spike piece slipping up a little bit so the top is uneven too? A few of mine needed unstitching because of that. That would put the peak off center I think.

Actually I called in some manly experts in the house and after much measuring and comparing, my ruler is defective. No wonder I could not be precise. After this sew along, I will trash this ruler, in the mean time I will make do.

Thanks midge, I also tried it when I got home. I have traced & cut the template to make clue 2, the one LQS didn't have the rulers in stock.

Deegles, how disappointing and frustrating! What brand Tri Recs ruler is it? Can you return it?

Carah, glad you've got the alternative method. Paper piecing works out well too. And glad you didn't waste fabric on bad cuts. That always makes me mad.

My rulers have the tri recs name, darlene zimmerman name, and simplicity.com name all on the ruler(s). Perhaps I will purchase the accuquilt die for this and just take the ruler as an $11 loss.

Hope mine is not defective too!
I seem to think I read somewhere that is why Bonnie Hunter's site was so back logged and out of them....but I am not sure
I have not done any of these yet.
I ordered one from Amazon but it is not here yet.
Where did you purchase your defective ruler?
                        Happy Quilting!

The EZ Quilting Tri Recs is the same set I have. I got it when I did a Kimberly Einmo quilt and sorta learned how then, but the units weren't great. This time around I made myself start with scrap fabric and work at it until I got it right. Now they are going smoothly with this ruler. Sorry to hear you had a problem and hope you can get your money back.

Now I wonder if that's why mine are a little off. I had to trim every one. I have 37 done and it took forever.
