    Hi SwampCatNana,
Yes 1944 is my birth year. I live in a small town South of Boston (Hanson). I lived in the Back Bay section of Boston when I was in high school then we moved to Hanover and been in this area most of the time. I read a lot, but get a lot of my books from co-workers and my daughter. She also uses the paperback book site you mentioned. She is Institches here on the forums. We have fun together with our sewing, reading, cooking etc.
    Talk soon,
    Jo

    ... Part 2...

I really love stained glass and have colored bottles and colored glass ornaments in my windows. 31 years ago I signed up for a stained glass class but immediately found out I was pregnant and the doctor wasn't sure if it might be dangerous so I figured why take a chance and dropped the class. Never went back to it. I'm always learning something new and then it fades. I think this quilting thing is going to stick for the rest of my life. I've always wanted a fabulous quilt but making a king size kind of scares me. Although I am working on an experimental pattern that I think will be a lap quilt for MY couch.

I forget where you said you are from. I have been chatting with a couple gals from NH about possibly getting together sometime somewhere in the middle. If we could get enough people interested would could really make an event out of it.

Looking forward to getting to know you better,

    Nancy

Hi SwampCatNana. My real name is Nancy. What's yours?

Fayston is right in the middle of Vermont in the Mad River Valley. On Route 100. Better known towns are Waitsfield and Warren. We have 3 ski areas: Sugarbush (2 mtns) and Mad River Glen.

I'm trying to have a business but I've just started and haven't sold anything yet. Last year my big thing was hand knit and felted items; hand bags, hats, ear warmers, etc. I sold some of those in a local craft/gift shop but she takes 45% so I haven't taken any of my sewn items there. I'm slowly building up some inventory but making Christmas presents has gotten in the way. I'm new to quilting, just started last March. I'm totally adicted. I am so ready to semi-retire. I've been at my job so long now that I really hate it.

    continued in part 2...

Thanks SwampCatNana! I love that fabric too and it is perfect for Stack N Whack. I have the top about halfway pieced but put it aside while I deal with Halloween and Thanksgiving. I'm hoping to start working on it again end of this month! Do you have mirrors to test your fabrics for patterns good for Stack N Whack? I have a couple mirrors I like to use that really help me make fabric decisions. My next Stack N Whack will have to be either 6 or 8 sided to get into some really cool patterns.
