Sandy...My solution has always been to tape the backing down - but you've already done that! Are you able to use the basting spray? If not, I guess hooping it would be a good option. Maybe you could use a few pins in those trouble spots and remove them as you need to quilt. I'm sorry but I don't know of anything else to do. Barb

Barb, help me out a bit. I'm pinning and basting the silhouette quilt. I have a gigantic dining room table and have laid out my backing fabric and taped it down securely, stretched flat. Next goes my batting - and it is crease-less, too. Put on my top and smooth it down and pin. So far, so good. Now I start my basting (only because I want to make double sure that all is secure and straight!!!) and I looked at the back and there are a few pieces that I think may give me trouble when I'm doing my machine quilting - not really creased or bundled, but enough slack in between the pins that I may have a few minor folds as I'm sewing.

How do I get through this . . . I sure don't want to do a quilt that has a rumpled back. I'm considering hooping and doing my FMQ inside the hoop. That way I can make certain it is nice and flat . . . HELP!
