After 35 years of owning/operating my business I retired May 2014. Now my husband and I are on to new adventures. My name is Debbie but I am set up as FamilyJournals as this is what I am known as elsewhere. I set up my business to allow me to pursue some of my passions which are:
*Family~ We have 6 children (5) sons and wonderful daughter-in-laws, several grandchicklets from the age of 15 to 2 with a new little guy making his début in July.
*Family History~ is about families and I am an author and teacher for wiki.familysearch.org with my emphasis in USA research.
*Festival of Trees~is about children. This is a charity that 100% of every penny that is brought in goes to pay the medical bills for children in need at Primary Children’s Hospital that is a regional critical care facility servicing 6 intermountain west states. I have served for several decades on it’s executive board. In the past few years we have added quilts from individuals and quilt guilds around the world. I am now serving on their alumni board.
*Quilting! Is for families, children and blessing others. My grandmother was born in 1890 and was the true embodiment of a pioneer woman. She used every scrap she could find for her carefully stitched giant star quilts. Her pieces came from an Easter dress, grandpa’s useable parts of his overalls or white shirts, satin from a wedding dress, anything she could salvage became parts of her stars. The backs of her quilts were sheets and the batting was usually an old quilt that has lost it’s usefulness.
She was known as having the most stitches on a needle and the smallest stitches. She told me that I wouldn’t be a good quilter as my stitches were too sloppy. So I went on to other things. Now I have a friend with a machine that can do the quilting. Works for me!
*Service ~ anything that I can do to lighten another’s load. My goal each and every day is to find the one that Jesus would have me find and do what He would have me do.
