Hi, Wendy ~ Re: thread - If you buy Superior thread, King Tut is the best, IMO. However, you'll need to specify a color. (There are color charts on their web site.) Do you want the thread for just piecing or for FMQ? I've recently been using Signature machine quilting thread. A 3,000 yds. cone of single color costs $9.00. It's 40 wt. The King Tut also is 40 wt. & comes in all those lovely blended colors. Signature also comes in 2 color blends, but the cones are $15. I stocked up from Juke Box Quilts, a vendor at the Rocky Mtn. Quilt Festival. Their shop is in Ft. Collins. I've also use YLI, but it is more linty. I was told its weight, even though is says 40 wt. on the label, is actually closer to 30 wt. For piecing, I buy a large cone of "eggshell" color, cotton thread from my LQS. Hope your friend can find you some good thread. JCY

Well I wish I could have your positivity. This is my second long term relationship that has failed. If we can't make our way through this then I am done with men. Honestly. All the grief I have ever had in my life has been because I allowed myself to love a man and that all started with my own father. I'm sick to death of my life being destroyed by them. Today is a brutal day. I can't stop crying and I'm at work...I may have to go home. I almost didn't come in but I thought I could get it together. My head is aching also...which is common when I am very stressed. I see a therapist fairly regularly...feel like my entire **** life has been spent trying to get myself fixed because I've dared to love other people. I'm angry and incredibly, painfully sad and I am honestly not sure how I will get through this.

I'm sorry Wendy. Please do take care of yourself. Seek professional guidance to help you get through this. I, too, have problems with depression, and for the most-part it is kept in check with medication...but when I was first diagnosed, I was under the treatment of a psychiatrist for about 5 years...it is possible to overcome it. As for splitting of a relationship, in my case it was my decision, so I cannot relate to how you feel in that respect. However, had I not gotten divorced, I would have never met Carl, and he is the love of my life. So there is good to see...you just have to allow yourself to see it. Hang in there...please know you are in my thoughts and I hope that however things work out, you will again be happy.

Anyway, thank you for the compliment regarding my purple quilt. I have to admit it is one of the prettiest I've made. The pattern is a Lone Star and the outside border is pinwheel. I bought a book at JoAnn's that had the Lone Star pattern in it. It really is pretty easy to make. The materials I used are batiks. Feel free to copy the design.
