Hi, the puppy (Shelby is her name) is actually 12 years old. She is all terrier - too smart and too fussy. She has one ear that has always been half cocked, so she looks funny sometimes.

Just read your post regarding paper-piecing. I've been wanting to give this a try, as well. If you stumble upon anything interesting, think of me...

    pcbatiks,
Thank you for your comment about me not being a beginner. I used invisible thread on my Christmas table runner, it stretches so you have to change your tension. I love using variegated threads because of the material I usually pick and I get bored easily so I like how the thread changes up. I tried Sulky blendables, but I had a lot of trouble with the thread breaking no matter what needle I used or what setting.
    Have a wonderful weekend.

Oh my! A little sleep after a night shift, and look what's happened!
    Spell check! WOOHOO!
Hit another estate sale on the way home. Let's just say upholstery paradise....
Will never have to buy fabric for my dining room chairs again!

You got a great deal on that fabric. I don't go to garage sales or thrift stores, so I miss out on things like that. It helps to find deals to expand your stash. Who said "She who dies with the most fabric wins?" I have so many scraps, I should work on a crazy quilt as well. I have some precuts, too, that I would like to make something out of. Yes, yes, yes, I do love your mother's stained glass window! It is sooooo pretty! She, and you, must be proud of it. My step-daughter dabbles in stained glass, but hasn't done much lately. She is planning on making a room in her basement dedicated to stained glass so that glass shards won't be everwhere. I would love to do it myself, but don't have space nor the money to invest in the equipment. Take a look at my king quilt album. I have been working on blocks for it, and that has been my main focus.

Hi Pcbatiks, It depends on what brand fusible you use. I like Steam a Seam2 LITE. It is easy to machine sew without getting your needle all gummed up and after washing it gets soft and pliable. Other fusibles like Heat n Bond and Wonder Under may have lite versions also that would not be too stiff but I haven't tried them.

Yes I have a 24" x 24" extension table and LOVE it! Plus I sew on an old dining room table which gives me lots of room to the left of the machine for my quilt. You can see my setup here in these album pics:

Thanks, pcbatiks! I do as much as possible by machine. I used to do lots of handwork like crewel, crochet, cross-stitch etc. but my hands don't work so well anymore. I took up quilting about 2 years ago and avoid hand sewing whenever I can! All my applique is done using fusible web and machine stitching. I have a couple of quilts with some small areas of hand embroidery like French Knots and line stitching (my Bumblebee quilt has some hand stitching) but usually everything is by machine. Love your Saints quilt by the way, a photo quilt is something I want to try one of these days. Loved the pattern you used and the fabrics!
