It did fray really badly on my practice block but then I bought a pinking blade for my rotary cutter and that seemed to do the trick. My problem was that the pattern needed some quite accurate piecing to get the points right and it is really hard to measure and cut accurately from a wiggly pinked edge!

It was also only my 3rd or 4th quilt and I'd never done anything with points or anything larger than a lap quilt or any hand quilting so all in all it was a pretty silly thing to try and do (especially since there was only 5 months until the wedding). Well we live and learn!

It was silk, I bought it when I was on holiday in Oman. The bride was buying the silk for her wedding dress and I sneaked off and bought some to match to make a quilt from. It was so cheap! 60% of the price of quilting cotton and 54" Wide. I'm never using silk again though, it was an absolute nightmare to sew with

Thanks togpine, the fake curves were the reason I bought the pattern. I wanted to do a traditional wedding ring pattern but I was too scared of the curves!

I think my pattern was called Pinwheel Sillouette (but not positive about that). I do know it was one of the easiest patterns I ever made. The pattern also mentioned how you could cut the pieces a certain way so you would end up with small triangular pieces to use in another quilt. I saved all those pieces and sewed them into a wall hanging for myself. It just needs quilted and will be the next project to finish when I'm done with the one I'm working on now.
    Thanks for your comment!
