I'm not sure where I read this tip but it makes joining the medallions in La Pas much easier.
When you are completing a medallion with the little five pointed stars ring as the last part, don't attach the outside point of your stars. When it's time to join the medallions the star point is attached at the correct place to the adjacent medallion before you get to the joining the two together.
This has two advantages.
1. You will be joining the two medallions with a gently curving seam instead of zigging in and out. I find this much easier than wangling two large medallions.
2. It's easier to match the correct place for joining the medallions by having the last point of the star to match up.
I have a little zip-lock bag with a collection of star points waiting for their time in the sun - bless them.
