Week 3- Tools: Not just for the guys!

Wow ladies! Thanks for another great giveaway this past week. It was fun to find out everyone's quilting fears! We announced the winner over on the blog, but just in case you didn't catch it....

Shell.scraps is the big winner of the Baskets of Blessings pattern! Congratulations shell and thanks to everyone else for playing along!

Now on to NEW things. It's a new week (well, here at the Fabric Free For All it is!) so that means time for a new giveaway! This week we're talking tools. What quilting tool can you not live without? Do you have a "secret" weapon? What's your favorite BRAND of a specific tool?

Oh, and remember how much I love pictures? (ALOT!!!) Well, this week is especially easy to get that GLORIOUS extra entry because I'm willing to bet you can snag a picture of ANY quilting tool right off Google. So let's aim for double entries for everyone! And just because I can, those of you who try a picture for the FIRST TIME this week will get a 3rd entry. WAHOO! You can do it!

As for the prize.... How about a Hartfield Charm Pack?

I think that will suffice! Good luck all!

Here goes: I am a little intimidated by this. This is my first entry. I would love to win the charm pack :? I've sewed for a long time, but don't consider myself a quilter. Thanks to your great shop, I am doing some quilting. And I enjoy reading what other people are doing. Anyway, I can't live without my rotary cutter! Pick Me! :P

Don't be intimidated!! We don't bite...and most of us (Ithink) are beginners. We have a thread on tips for new quilters HERE and since we are from all over, there is usually someone here or stopping in soon to answer any question you may post.

Welcome to MSQC!! We're happy to have you!!

Besides the rotary cutter, I love my ruler and my self-healing mat. My ruler, off hand I can't remember the brand, has easy to read large numbers. Comes in handy after working 8 hours and then wanting to cut fabric and you eyes are tired. Niki

I am with you! I'm pretty new to the quilting community as well and now I'm having all sorts of fun!

And just so you know my favorite tool is my scissors on a string! Next time I'm in the shop I'm gonna make myself a MODA lanyard!
To stitch or not to stitch... There is no question.

My favorite quilting tool is my iron. Without pressing after each and every seam, I do not get a precise edge and nothing lines up. I couldn't quilt without my iron.[attachment=0:cffar071]880large1.gif[/attachment:cffar071]

I think that's mine too! I'll tell you why...

#1 I hate to cut. Seriously, I dread the cutting process so much it's why I don't get as many projects done as I'd like.

#2 I find ironing therapeutic. Maybe it's just me, but there's something wonderful about creating perfection and ironing fabric all crisp and neat is perfection in small form.

                    My favorite tool

I have picked up more help, inspiration, and information from this site then I ever thought possible, and those reasons alone have made this site my most prized and favorite tool. I have made friends (I think ) and have found a place to call my quilting "home".

Those of you who know me, know that I have to think about things, especially when decided on one thing. I am so bad about answering those "favorite" questions. Anyway when I read the question the first thing that came to mind was my sewing machine. I love to sew. I was very torn.........because I agree with her 100 percent. So for me it is a tie between my sewing machine and Missouri Star Quilt Company. I have learned sooooooooo much from all the girls, at the store and on the website. I just love the tutorials.....Have I mentioned that to anybody lately. LOL Remember I told you I have trouble deciding on just one "favorite" tool.

Okay...not to put down anyone who has an expensive "does everything but cure cancer" sewing machine...but it really warms my heart to see another person who has just a regular sews in a line and a few other simple ways sewing machine...I usually feel so inadequate when it comes to my sewing machine...especially since it was *whisper* bought on sale at Target....but hey .... at least we got the quilter's version..

I am so torn, I love all my sewing tools!! I can not believe how many things I have made and what I have continued to learn. The ease I have found in cutting w/ my mat, rotary cutters and ruler or sewing on my new Janome HT2008 sewing machine, perhaps my spring loaded scissors which I dub "snippers". I put them down and ask my husband "where are my snippers?????" Heaven forbid he should use them....I would say the fact that Robert bought me my Janome for my birthday last June...well it has hardly been put up the last 9mns.

Now that I have met w/ MSQC, I see more on the horizon...Thanks for inviting me to class last week. Wow to see that cute table runner I made is sitting on the coffee table. Now I want to make more. TODAY I am making my 1st deal of the day purchase...Yeah!

I would say that MSQC is my Favorite Store (tool).
