We show love to each other for Valentine's in different ways each year. Sometimes we eat out, other years exchange nice cards, sometimes wrapped gifts or surprises. Nothing very elaborate. It is a nice time to express appreciation to others in our life too, like our children, grandchildren, elderly mother, and friends. "What the world needs now.........."

My husband of 36 years doesn't have a romantic bone in his body, but he will at least get me 1 silk rose (not like a real rose.) And then I wind up fixing a steak dinner for the occasion and then MAYBE fun in the bedroom later.

This year was nice because it was on a Sunday and there was TIME to spend together. I made a brunch-y breakfast casserole and called it LOVE....

This year I actually planned ahead and made a table runner for my daughter and daughter-in-law for Valentine's Day (photo attached of the little one)! My husband and I just exchange cards but he surprised me with a dozen roses this year??

We keep it pretty low key ...we will buy gifts if we see something special we think the other will like. Some years we go to dinner ...it just depends. I don't think we play in the commercialism too much.

My husband and I keep it very simple. We exchange cards and he did buy me a box of chocolates. In the past he would give me a dozen roses. I asked him please don't spend that kind of $$ on roses in a vase, instead buy me flowers for my garden. We can enjoy those throughout the summer and it was be a constant reminder. He now listens and we just do cards. I get the flowers in Spring.

Just another day on the calendar for us... we don't celebrate it.

    Valentines Day...what's not to love?

Chocolate for chocolate lovers (I'm not one, but who asked me??? LOL), Teddies (stuffed and other), Flowers, and just one more reason to celebrate the people in our lives!

My hubby and I always try to have a quiet dinner alone together for this holiday. As far as gifts go, I know I won the lottery 28 yrs ago, when we married, and he never fails to show me EVERYDAY how much I mean to him,so really what more could I ask for? Of course,he knows chocolate is always appreciated, along with a gift certificate to my fave fabric /quilt shop!!LOL!

After 26 years I have finally convinced my husband that when I say don't get me "anything" this year he actually listened. We focused our attention on our 2 year old grandson who needed valentine cards for his day care class, juice and cookies for his little party at day care. Our 5 month grandson was in the hospital so we put aside a valentine card from big brother. Usually we just go out to eat at a nice restaraunt.

    Congrats Craftyard.

    Congrats CRAFTYRAD...

I am not a big fan of valentine's day. I tell my family daily that I love and apperciate them. My husband will uaully give me a little card or a rose something small. I rather get flowers because he was thinking of me instead of because everyone else is getting them or their wifes. I get my kids a little something as well... and we usually have a dinner out but the day before or after never mess with the mess of everyone trying to eat out on valentines day!

I'm late posting, but Valentine's Day is our anniversary. We've been married 22 years now! AND my husband picked the day - he's always been very sweet, or at least I think so. He gets embarrassed when I tell people he was the one who suggested Valentine's Day & says "it helps me not to forget"! lol That's okay, I know better, and he's a KEEPER! ;-)

Oh, and we usually get a card for each other & often chocolates, but this year we skipped the chocolates. We'll find something as an annivesary gift at some point - nothing WE wanted right now - I told him I wanted fabric & he just looked at me funny.

Congrats Craftyrad....loved the toll booth "love" story!

My BF and I had our first date on Valentine's Day so is rather extra special to us (well...to me!). One year he was broke so he decided to make a romantic dinner and to suprise me he came home early from work to get dinner ready and had a bubble bath waiting for me when I got home. It was really sweet, especially when he said that he even hid the scale away because he wanted me to be really relaxed! (LOL..men, ya gotta love em!)

This year his son's college baseball team had a tournament planned in Kansas City, MO so we decided to go and spend the weekend with family who live there. I told my boyfriend I didn't want anything for Valentine Day/Anniversary but for him to take me to the Missouri Star Quilt Company! So...his brother and him drove me up there and told me to take my time. It was a wonderful experience and one of the best gifts he's ever given me!
