Week 36 California Dreamin'

A big SHOUT out is in order baby, cause we are BACK!!! Yeah! WE have so many awesomely cool things in store for you all. The forums are gonna be bigger and better! Whoop-whoop!

This week I am thinking about how nice a vacation would be. So, I am gonna give away a Brand spankin' new California dreaming charm pack (by Janean Morrison from Westminster)

It is so bright and happy and definitely screams vacation to me! I just want to know....where are you planning on vacationing this year? Or where do you want to go (in your wildest dreams) if you could? If you have ideas for family vacations or couples vacations I'd love to hear them!

Because to be quite honest...I can't wait for vacation time. Not sure where we will go...but I love going with my family to places we've (or at least the kids) haven't been. Well, and a little relaxing would be perfect!

Our planned vacation is to exciting Omaha, Nebraska! Actually, my parents' 50th anniversary is in July, so we'll go help them celebrate. I'm hoping all my sisters and their families will be there. It'll be fun to all be together again.

As for dreaming goes, I think I'll dream of Hawaii. We went there in 2007 for a week. It's definitely a place to go see more than once!

At the moment we are not planning a vacation. We are in the military and we may be transferring this summer. So, if we transfer, then our vacation will be our trip to our new location, then checking out our new location once we get there. If we don't transfer we're going to do a stay-cation and participate in some of the touristy things here. We may travel to Juneau or Anchorage, but I'm not sure.

I would love to go to Hawaii for vacation! In fact, if we stay in Alaska I think I'm going to strongly encourage a trip to Hawaii over Christmas.... New York or Paris would also be nice....

Just finished booking a mini-vacation to New York City in May-- an extended weekend.My husband, Daughter #2, her husband, and their 2 daughters are going too! Top of the list of things to do is going to see Lion King on Broadway. I grew up in New Jersey just across the river from Manhattan so I've been there lots and my son-in-law visited a few years ago but the others have NEVER been so it will be great fun showing them around the BIG APPLE!

Congratulations YOUSEWGIRL!

We used to never take vacations cause we couldn't afford them. I used to have 'vacation days' for the kids when they were little doing things like checking out local museums, having a picnic on the living room floor, going to a local lake for swimming, or taking them yard saleing all day which they loved cause they could find really cheap toys. After 14 years of that, we headed to Maine where we rented a camp and visited my cousins who I hadn't seen in 20 years. I love sitting in the woods on a lake, smelling the pine trees and watching the eagle dive for his breakfast every morning and evening. Kayaking was also a favorite - skimming along on the calm waters listening to the loons.

This year we are headed to South Carolina to Parris Island to watch my son graduate from Marine basic training at the end of August. I hope to leave a day early to find a beach to stand on and watch the waves. My second favorite place to be.

My husband, and 2 youngest boys will be packing up and driving 14 hours to go visit Pokeyrella in Indiana!! We havent decided yet, whether we will be bringing the dog with us

My big vacation was last year, my family and I went to Scotland. It was an absolutely amazing trip. So this year we are not going anywhere. Can't afford it since we did Scotland up right!
But I sure do love time off to sew, every weekend feels likes a mini vacation!

Vacation? I will be going to be with my daughter after she has her baby, but I don't think I can count that as a vacation.

I think my husband and I are going to go investigate around Murhpy NC. We have been looking for a place to semi-retire to in a few years. We live in the SW where it is BROWN almost all the time. Now Brown is fine for quilting but I am ready to see some GREEN out my windows!

My son will be working in Hawaii this spring for a couple of months, so I would love to catch a little time there too. I think that is a big wish though. But we can always be "DREAMIN"!

Aahhh....California dreamin....sounds wonderful to me! That was really cheerful fabric too, wasn't it? What a cute tote it would make, but I just discovered an error in my checking account and have less moola than I thought! No DD (daily deal) for me today!

Aahhh.....vacation...now there is a nice thought! We have a mini vacation coming up for Valentine's weekend, the BF and I are celebrating 5 years together and guess where we are going??? Kansas City, MO and I am sooooo excited! We are actually coming for one of my BF son's college baseball tournament BUT I have told my BF the only Valentine and anniversay present I want is to go to the Missouri Star Quilt Company!! I can't wait to visit (have a list started). I would love to meet all the gals there, who if they don't know it already, are "celebrities" in their own right!

My first real vacation for 2010 is in March and we are then heading to Florida and will take in the BF son's college spring training cames near Tampa. I am planning a stay with my brother and family, who live not too far away. I am also hoping to meet up with an online quilting friend who has promised me a day trip to all the fun quilt shops that she goes to in that area! Family, sunshine, baseball, friends and quilting....all in one trip! My kinda vacation!

California Dreamin' -- I LOOOOOOOOVE this fabric line!!!!!

I'm living a vacation. When hubby has an out of town work project, we pack up the Airstream (our RV) and go. I'm his 24 hour support (admin, slave, cook, shrink, housekeeper, laundress, etc....).

We lived through a winter storm in NW Arkansas last week... I'm dreaming of warmer climes -- I'd like to go to Sanibel Island, Florida or out west to New Mexico/Arizona. I've never been to NM/AZ area.I've got some internet friends I'd like to meet, then trip over to Southern California to meet my quilting pen pal.

So I guess I am Claifornia dreamin'!

We took an amazing trip to China last summer, and an Alaskan cruise/land tour the summer before, so we're staying closer to home this summer -- will spend most of the summer at our house on Cape Cod.

We got 2 free airline tickets for volunteering to be bumped last month, so will probably use them to go to the west coast in the fall.

Dreamin' vacation -- probably Africa or Australia!

KarenB -- how did you decide on Murphy? My son's in-laws have a house on a mountain there. It IS green, but I'm more of a beach person than a mountain person. Lake Hiwassee is nearby -- liked that!We also went white-water rafting over in Eastern Tennessee on the Ocoee, which was a lot of fun.

We would love to go to Ireland someday, but for this year our vacation will be spent in South Dakota, Nebraska and Colorado visiting family. We haven't been back for about 18 months so it's time!

OMG...I just returned from a sisters trip to find out I won the weekly give away...how cool is that...and speakin about vacation...we are heading west to Napa Valley for my 60th birthday to ride in a hot air balloon this summer...can't wait...what a perfect prize for this week "California Dreaming"...that's what I've been doing a lot of lately...watching the mailbox for my prize...you guys are the best....

Since we took our big vacation this past fall to the Smoky Mountains, we will probably come to Missouri and see relatives and maybe visit the quilt shop!
