Week 35 Plain Jane or American Jane!?!?

Another week! Wow! This weeks winner (with the help of that lovely random generator) is junglewife! Please contact me with your shipping information and what turnover you want (eek!!) and we will ship it out as soon as we can! Congrats!!

This week....I am going to giveaway a new charm pack that we just got in, American Jane pin dots. It is a great primary color blender pack! I have always been a huge fan of American Jane (Sandy Klop) She is so darling and her lines are just so fresh and bright!

Question this week: How are you getting through January!?!? Now that ALL the holidays are over and it's COLD and gray.....what do you do to get you through the (sometimes) LOOOONG winter months!?!??!
Me? I am keeping busy with little projects....and I think I will decorate for Valentines Day early this year! I could use some red and pink hearts around here!
Can't wait to hear what you all have to say. You are always such a source for inspiration! Thanks (you are the best!)!

      Congratulations Junglewife!!

January is almost half over! I spent the first half at home with my children who FINALLY went back to school today after their Christmas break (I REFUSE to call it a "Holiday" break, and I will be the first to tell you its not politically correct...but I dont care!) I did get my rail fence quilt almost finished, made a baby doll size quilt with the end pieces of the strips and a little pillow for my nieces daughter and her baby dolls.
For the second half of the month, I'll be working on 2 BOM squares, watching Jenny on youtube (for the umpteenth time! lol) and trying out the Dresden pattern. I picked up the template today along with a new charm pack (Nature's Notebook by Moda...gorgeous mix of pastel blues, yellows, greens and creams, very springlike!) Nothing like getting that New Year's resolution out of the way early!!
Other than the normal day to day activities (cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc) I dont have much else planned (love being a SAHM after so many years of working!) for the month.

Winter. We are having a colder-than-usual winter. That usually means being able to sit in front of the fireplace and handpiece. But, I'm spending entirely too much time on the internet, and not enough time with some handwork... I think I should reverse this, and them maybe I'd get more done! LOL!

I'm still working on the kids' I SPY's and think I am switching from hand quilting to machine quilting. It's basically a stitch in the ditch and it's killing my fingertips trying to get through the top, interfacing, batting, and backing. These need to get done! Also have a few others to finish. I have no problem staying inside to finish projects once the shoveling is done. It's when Spring arrives and then I am out in the flower beds alot.

          Hugs,

It is been colder than normal here in Ohio. I have been taking this opportunity to finish some sewing/quilting projects, organizing my Christmas stuff and thinking about what I want to do in the garden this growing season.

            Happy Sewing,

I am trying to finish up some projects (yeah!) and do some early spring cleaning (yuk!). And the hubby and I are getting ready to redo my 16 year old son's room. He deserves it. He's a sweetheart. Maybe I'll find time to get a quilt done for his room too.

Getting through January by focusing on some Valentine stitching. I got the L'amour jelly roll and cut out THREE table toppers using the Criss Cross Applesauce pattern in Terry Atkinson's Let's Do Lunch book. A little more work than I thought they would be, but really cute! Two are for PIF gifts that I will send off by this weekend.

Well, I first check out the Daily Deal! My daughter is still home from college, doesn't go back till the 17th so I've been hanging out with her, getting caught up with reading and movies. I have not sewn since mid December, looking forward to that!

Congrats junglewife. During the cold I try to finish up projects that I've started and put aside. My son is getting married this May so I'm trying to get them a quilt (king size) done for a wedding gift. Having a hard time with it being colder than usual in GA. All I want to do at night is curl up and stay warm. Think I'm still having withdrawals of my Grandchildren moving out and blaming it on the cold.

                    Happy quilting and stay warm

Getting through January is best accomplished by working on projects. It's cold and gray outside, perfect for staying indoors where it's warm. I really do hate the cold. My ultimate dream sewing room would actually include a fireplace where on those dreary winter days I could sit and sew by the fire. Sounds cozy doesn't it? Dreams do come true, don't they?

We've been visiting grandchildren -- spent the last week outside Atlanta (where it's been COLDER than near Boston where we live, but now that we're leaving, it's warming up!!). Off to southern California this afternoon (where it's been very warm, but cooling off now -- go figure!) When we get back, will spend what's left of January putting away the Christmas decorations we left up and organizing my tiny sewing room -- my yearly January project.

Dreaming of warmer weather -- I'm a summer person.

Oh how I wish I could say that I get to stay home catch up on books and movies and of course quilting. But alas, I must work. I am trying to quilt as much as possible. I am on the last month of a local mystery quilt. It has been so much fun. Also, I have twin nieces that were born about 9 weeks early last week so I thought I had more time to whip up a couple of baby quilts for them and now my time has been cut short and then my daughter is due in early April. Not that I mind having quilts to make, it's the dang working I wish I could stop  I live in the southwest so not so cold here as it is for those of you in the north and east. I'm thankful for that and of course that my nieces are doing well! :P

                            Good for you junglewife!
January always feels like the longest month to me. I just finished 12 squares made from the Snippets turnovers I bought before Christmas. Now I have to cut the sashing out of a cute retro green print with daisies on it and then sew it together. I am dreaming of how to do the border and isn't that really half the fun, the dreaming? Whenever I get stressed out at work (or home!) I simply start daydreaming about quilts I want to make and it makes me smile!
The rest of my spare time in January will be working on this quilt. My boyfriend is making a pvc quilt frame for me and I hope he gets it done before I get the quilt done. Since I joined Weight Watchers with my daughter this week(gotta lose that 30 lbs YET AGAIN!), the quilting is a very important tool in my weight loss journey as it will keep my hands busy and my mind off the kitchen!
                            Stay warm everyone!

I plan to get my sewing room in order, getting my machines and serger set up. Once that's done, I would like to get some of the projects I have found while cleaning out the room. Happy new year everyone!
