Some friends & my DH & I started a food bank at our church a few years back when the economy tanked. The need was great in our neighborhood. It's been an amazing thing, we've learned so much & been so blessed in the people we have met there. They have become friends, not just "the needy".
May the road rise up to meet you...
May the wind be always at your back...
May you be in Heaven a half hour before the Devil knows you're dead...

In just a few short hours I will be giving a good friend a quilt. Her divorce is final after 2 years of battle. This friend was diagnosed with breast cancer at the same time her mother was diagnosed. Her mother passed away very quickly and she is a survivor. I give my quilt to her in the name of love. She deserves so much more than a quilt!

For the past two years I have been making Quilts of Valor. I have just finished my ninth QOV and am working on my 10th to thank those who have fought so hard to support the values that our constitution stands for. I can't thank the members of the military enough for the sacrifices they make to defend our great land.

I made and gave an elderly friend a small quilt to use over her legs when she is in her wheelchair. It helps her anf her family, since they were all miserable with the thermostat on 90 last month trying to keep her warm.

For the last few years, I've been donating quilts to wounded warriors, soldier babies and a local women and children's shelter. This week, my father in law asked me to secretly make a wedding ring table topper 18" for their 45th anniversary. Does he know ho difficult that is? That's a project being done in the name of love for my in laws! It's a good thing I like them!

I just made a donation to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Does that count? Showing love for my husband today with a delightful little red heart box filled with dark and white chocolate - his favorite. Sent Valentine's wishes to all my friends on Facebook and private messages of love to my children. Wishing everyone here a wonderful and love-filled Valentine's Day.

I just donated a "Newporter Tote" bag to an organization that has an auction at their annual conference. The funds raised help students along the way. Since I work in a University setting, I work with students of every walk of life. Many are struggling financially and any little bit can help a long way. I can't wait to see how much has been raised this year.

My daughter and I made a quilt for auction to raise money for her softball team in 2013. My daughter, Halona, was disappointed that someone other than ourselves would take the quilt home. As she presented the quilt to the highest bid winner, he in turn did something wonderful. The highest bidder told my daughter she could take it home for her use instead!

Years ago I helped a friend start a "Kids Breakfast Club" where we cooked and served breakfast to kids when school was not in session (holidays, summer, etc.). These kids would normally get breakfast at school during the school year, but when school was not in session, we felt it would be a good idea to provide a good meal. It was a big hit and we fed a lot of kids (and parents). I was always amazed at how much food the local food stores would donate. It was all a lot of fun to be able to help.
