    Week 27 ba-ba-batiks

Hip-hip Hooray for this weeks winner of the Winterscapes Charm pack. It is quiltingtrish! Email me your address and I will send our your prize asap! You lucky, lucky lady!

This week I want to know.....DO you like Batiks? Or not. Some people LOVE them and others detest  them. What side are you on?
Me, I am starting to really like them! I love the color variations, and the bright, bold colors. I used to be one of the girls that didn't like them! I just didn't realize what I was missing out on!

Oh the prize....well, that would be a batik charm pack! (a beautiful pack called Sand and Surf) by Benartex.

Some batiks I love, some I don't. It depends. I don't like the patterned batiks as much. I LOVE the Bail pops though!

      Re: Week 27 ba-ba-batiks

A few years ago I had an intense love affair with batiks. I still have a ton of fabrics and have recently been contemplating what to do next... I think the fact that I had a kid since then was a major barrier to getting to those beautiful fabrics!!!!

I like the solid marbled color batiks better than I do the Patterned. I have really only done one project using them. I did the Transitions quilt using the pastel batiks and it turned out pretty. I plan on doing more with the solids unless there is a print that just flat out screams HEY LOOK AT ME. Lynne Leavell

I love looking at batiks but haven't yet made anything from them.

I have tried the tye dyed material.....looked at the batiks but were not in the color range I was looking for or else yes I would have used it.

I think every material is great just depends on what project you are doing.

I like them, but have not used them much .. I have a 'collection' and a couple of ideas for using, for now though, I'm still 'collecting' .. just yesterday I had to have 1/3 yd of a new one, in purpley colors and sort of looked like dragonflies were included with the colors..

I'm not the biggest fan, but I agree that any fabric can be beautiful depending on what you do with it. So far I'm a fan of Figtree fabrics and Lila Tuler stuff.

For the right pattern, batiks can't be beat! Sometimes you don't need a solid and you don't need a print, then a batik may be just right. I used all batiks on Cosmati from Bella Bella and I don't think prints or solids would have had the same effect!

I bought my first batiks in Hawaii two years ago. They're still in the stash waiting for the perfect moment, perfect project. I bought some batik fabric at Joann that I used to make a tiered skirt that's very cute. I agree with others that there are some I like some I don't and it depends on the project.

I have some batiks in my stash left over from a deco jeans project for my daughter but I've not used them for quilting. I may now, though!

Would you believe I have a few beautiful 2.5" strips of green and blue batiks that has not been opened? I've been waiting to find some fun neutrals to go with...unsure the project but really hoped for a variety of neutrals to add to this already gorgeous fabrics.

I can't say I've used them much but do find myself looking at them with the different designs they put in them. Aren't they the ones they put flower or animal designs on? I've seen some really beautiful ones out there and do have a few in my stash. I think they would look pretty on a quilted jacket or use on a quilty purse. Love to do a quilt out of them - maybe someday.
