    Giveaway Week 10 - Mar. 12, 2011

Congratulations to ukquilter! Random.org chose you to win the 500 Quilters Cash Points from last weeks giveaway! She's been traveling around the world for fabric! I am mainly an internet girl with MSQC high on the list but there's a piece of Amy Butler I've been looking for that I'd definitely travel some places to find, because online the few places it is it's all $40 a yard! Crazy I know, kinda makes me feel like this! Oh, well that's when you start lookin' around to see what else the world has to offer because there's some super amazing fabric out there!

Anyway I've been stuck lately having a hard time getting down to my sewing room to do any of my projects and I want to know if anyone else has this problem? Now we all know Jenny is lucky enough to work in her sewing room but do you like a sewing "space" that's tucked away or in the middle of it all? I kinda wish mine wasn't so far in the corner of the house... I think if it was closer to the action with my kids I'd get more done. Of course, I may just be playing with excuses!

Tell me what you think and you could be the next winner of 500 Quilters Cash Points in your MSQC shop account!
To stitch or not to stitch... There is no question.

I usually set my machine up at my desk(for small projects) in my bedroom or at the kitchen table, but I hate it when I have to put it all away, especially when I'm in the middle of something ! I would like my own sewing room on the main floor of the house but I guess I will have to go to our partially finished basement and make a space !!!!

Congratulations ukquilter! Let us know how you use your points!
Currently my sewing area is in the dining room which is to be changed to the basement as soon as we can get a room fixed up. Hopefully this summer that will happen.
Anywho -I am hoping it will be a quiet retreat area where I can put the housework behind - if I don't see it, it won't need attended to!

Can't wait to hear other replies.
      Hugs,

I have all my fabric, cutting table, etc. in my sewing room but my sewing machine is set up in my dining room. There is so much light in this room and I am near all the other rooms since the house is so open. I don't think I would like to be back in the sewing room away from everything.
        Congrats ukquilter!

My sewing room in on the second floor in an area that's been finished over the garage. About as far away from everything. I love it--I crank up the oldies (70's Rock) and sew for hours. I love my little nook!

For years my sewing was done on the kitchen table. I hated when I had to put everything away which made it harder to get everything out the next time so I didn't get to sew much. Now I have a house with a bigger bedroom and I've pretty much turned my bedroom into a sewing room with a bed. I love it I have my cutting table, a cube with my fabric and a table with my sewing machine so I get to sew a little each day after I come home from work or all day on the weekends. I also love it because when I'm feeling the need to have time to myself I just go in and shut the door. Everyone knows Nana needs time to herself and they leave me alone....for a while anyway. I really love having a room where I can sew and leave what I'm working on and I can pick right back up where I left off.

I sew on the dining room table. I have the ironing board set up at the end of the table by the wall. Of course this is not attractive so I have to straighten everything up when I have guests over. I would really love to have my own sewing/craft/homeschool room, but alas I do not. We are busting out of the seams here in our house. Sewing machine, fabrics, cutting mats, ironing in the dining room, homeschool books in my bedroom and crafting things for dd and myself anywhere we can find a spot. My knitting is hiding in a bag under the living room side tables! LOL!! Can Missouri Star have a new house giveaway? or at least an add on for a bonus room??? That would be my ideal!

                CONGRATULATIONS, UKQUILTER!!!!!

I am one of those who is fortunate enough to have a large, dedicated sewing room with lots of windows and light, great storage space. I can spend hours there and often do (when not being pulled away for grandmotherly duties). My problem is I find it hard to settle in on one project and get something completed in a timely fashion. My brain is rushing around all over the place.

I like having my space "away from it all", although nothing in my tiny house is very "away" LOL. But I am so lucky, I've had a sewing room for over a year now, after a few years of sewing on the kitchen table. I do kind of miss being so close to the living room, because then I didn't feel like I was neglecting Mike to sew. But nowadays he'll come and watch tv and hang out in the sewing room with me anyway.

                  Congratulations to ukquilter!!!

                    Congrats to ukquilter!

I have a tiny sewing room upstairs near the bedrooms, and my cutting table is in a spare bedroom that also has my husband's big desk, so the table is folded down unless I'm using it. I like being able to shut the door when I'm done!

I started out using the dining room closet as my sewing space...(double doors so I could close it when not in use) I quickly outgrew that space, so I moved to the other end of the house. I moved 2 boys into the bigger bedroom and used the smaller room for my sewing room. I hated it!! I felt like I was all alone and closed off from everyone. Felt to confined, I hated going in there and sewing, never got anything done! I gave the boys their own rooms back and now I'm set up at a small desk in the dining room, the DR table is my cutting table (kids eat in living room when I have a project in the works) The DR closet has now become my storage space for all my fabric, batting, extra machines, etc.

Congrats ukquilter! Enjoy using your cash points!!

This has been a problem of mine as well, mine sewing room is in back, it is also very cold hard to get motivated to go to the cold room, my creativity has jumped ship lately, need to get it back. I have been thinking of getting myself motivated today to put the sash on and put the blocks together. See if I can do it today.

I need my sewing room to be "away" so I can shut it off from curious grandchildren. If it was where all the action was, I wouldn't feel the little munchkins were safe.

congrats UK. my kids are all in their teens now.. So Hubby set me up in a corner in the play room upstairs.. which is quickly becoming the hobby room.. model rockets..art projects and now my sewing corner are all up there. I love my space. I would love to have room for a big cutting table and a design wall but that will have to wait a few more years.

I have carved out a sewing area in the basement - no place to put it on the main floor. Pros: All my stuff is right there; a small cabinet for stuff, large table for cutting, small table for the sewing maching and my ironing board. Cons: (far more than pros) basement is not finished, bad lighting, dungeon atmosphere, not just my space - hubby was cutting lumber with a power miter saw while I was trying to sew today - IRRITATING and dusty! Only added to my frustration at trying my first attempt at machine quilting which was a huge failure (see my plea for help under quilting questions).

I got a sewing machine for my husband. Good trade, huh!?!
