Wow...thank you for my win this week. I'm blown away because I thought my chances would be very limited after I went and posted all about your site on my blog! Thank you so much!!

I've got to try for this next charm pack....this designer is awesome and so "out of the norm" for me!

As of late all my money has been spent on batting rolls. Since the economy took a dive I look at my stash as the vault. This seems to be where my money has been tied up, it isn't making interest so I'm using it up slowly but surely. I've decided rather than leave behind fabric and quilt tops I would leave behind actual finished quilts. Therefore, at this given time all of my spending has been on batting. Not very exciting for sure, but the end result is finished quilts!

Is it really "willing to splurge" or "unable to control myself"? I think I have to admit it's more the latter. When I completely fall in love with a line of fabric, nothing will satisfy the need to buy, touch and sew with it....until I buy it! And it may be that I was further removed from this addiction when I was working full time and commuting 90 miles a day, but NOW in retirement I am finding, there are SO MANY NEW AND AWESOME FABRIC DESIGNERS!

I tend to splurge on tools(rotary cutters, rulers, cutting mats)...things that make all of this so much easier. Of course, I can always sneak in a charm pack or a few more fat quarters! I would also splurge on the pre-cut fabric. that just makes everything faster and easier! Love that stuff!

See, and here I was thinking the only thing to splurge on was fabric!! I do love pre-cuts, but you're totally right about the tools Nat! So many great things to buy!!!

I'm willing to splurge on that special fabric that just "makes" a project I'm working on. Or a pattern book that will keep me supplied with ideas for a LONG time!

Good topic. I bet everyone's definition of "splurge" is pretty different! My budget is pretty teensy tiny (technically non-existent, but I challenge myself to underspend on my grocery budget and allow myself to use the extra money for myself!)

I recently "splurged" at my local quilt shop, which I have been avoiding because I am easily tempted. In their clearance section were several different Heather Ross fabrics (I think it was called lightning bugs...), priced fantastically at $2.99/yd, but with a one yard minimum. Usually I can convince myself that buying just a quarter yard is reasonable, so it was a big deal to buy whole yards. I bought 4 yards from Heather Ross's line and a yard from another line that coordinated. I brought them home and realized how perfectly they match two vintage sheets I bought.

I've since gone back and bought two of the coordinating polka dots from Heather Ross's line for the same price. Buying these large cuts, even at a low price, was quite a splurge for me, but they are so delicious that I feel confident I will use them well.

To stitch or not to stitch... There is no question.

I'm with Quilt Hollow, batting seems to be taking a chunk of my money. But I love a good batik and Red Rooster Fabrics. And books that make scrappy quilts!

I spend most of my money on pre-cuts. There's nothing like getting a bundle in the mail (from MQC, of course!) and getting started immediately on a project. Plus, they come with such an outstanding price tag so who could resist? I figure out what I am going to make while it is coming in the mail so that I can start right away and not try and figure out what to do with it. Love those pre-cuts!!

My splurges are jelly rolls, especially the Bali Pops, and little ribbons and doodads that I can use to embellish quilts. And books. I love a good sale!

Re: Week 9- Money, Money, Money

I am a fairly brand new quilter and since I have the most trouble putting together coordinating fabrics, I would splurge on a bundle of fabrics that all coordinate so that I can make a beautiful quilt. I recently went to a local quilt show and one of the vendors had used cardboard pizza rounds as a base and had fanned out 20 coordinating fat quarters on them and then shrinkwrapped the whole "pizza pie". They were around $50 each, but I couldn't help myself ~ I purchased two of them! Now I'm looking for the perfect wallhanging patterns (just my size) to make with them.

The second thing I would splurge on is batting (like the previous posters). A local quilt store is going out of business (so sad), but everything right now is 50% off through the end of the month....I'm heading down there next week to stock up on some supplies, especially batting ~ the self-basting iron on kind which I used before and that I like very much.

                          Thanks!

I tend to over spend all my extra cash as well of part of my grocery money on Fabric . I am buying every deal I can find on Moda's Butterfly Fling http://www.unitednotions.com/fcc_butterfly_fling.pdfright now.
I am building a stash galore. I have not found the best deals on every purchase but I have found a few. I figure by next month I can start on my grand daughters 1st (Kimberly) and 3rd (Kirsten) birthday quilts. I am not making matching quilts but each one will be with the BF line.
Yesterday my splurge was to go by MSQC store to spend a little on some polka dots...
Sarah you know I love those dots!!
                            Happy Quilting

Now if that isn't the best thing I've heard about all morning! Sounds AWESOME!
