Claire ~ That's a lovely quilt. I like the colors & design. Have a wonderful trip & good luck with the eye surgeries.

Beautiful quilt Claire. I hope your surgery goes well. I have a co-worker who just had this done last week. Hopefully he is back to work in a few weeks.

Also Victoria Sampler. And Tanya Berlin for goldwork.

I will check them out and see if shipping within Canada is better.

You are doing goldwork? OMG! I saw the loveliest bird but the kit on The French Needle site was all sold out...it was way about my talent levels anyway.

Wow. I don't think I would have the patience or skill to do such beautiful work. I really appreciate the cross stitch pieces and embroideries that we received from my mother-in-law. I had them reframed and they are displayed throughout our house.

I finished the musical quilt top and finished 6 tea towels today. I am helping my girlfriend load and quilt some charity quilts tomorrow morning. I hope to leave after lunch as we are expecting 12-16" of snow and strong winds. I don't want to be in country roads then. Looks like I'll be keeping busy, quilting.

I'm approaching goldwork LOL. Mary Corbet of NeedlenThread is local to me (just down the highway west) and she's inspired me. I'm still in the 'collecting tools and supplies' stage. But I have taken the plunge (pun intended) with some faux goldwork using Krenick metallic cord. - on the Victoria Sampler "Four Elements: Fire" sampler that I did last fall.

I think the 3 d ones are above my skill level still, even 3 d cross stitch pieces somewhat intimidate me and I've only done a little bit of stumpwork.

How nice that you live so close to Mary Corbet. I get her blog/updates by email. She's done the embroidery world a great service with putting all her knowledge and education up online. She does such beautiful liturgical embroidery.

Is this what you did? http://mrsmilkybarkidstitches.blogsp...-actually.html

I've never done any stumpwork but I took the Craftsy class on it one weekend when all their classes were free. I very much like the antique stumpwork in museum catalogs, like on the little "casket" boxes with biblical scenes and such. But I think if I were going to stitch something elaborate it would probably be a full coverage piece like the Holland Springtime by Chatelaine https://www.123stitch.com/item/Chate...attern/CHAT080

                  I just don't think I have enough ambition/eyesight/patience to complete such a thing...and the kit costs over $300! D:

Yes, that's the series. The one that has the gold work is the "Fire" one. Here's a link to my blog

                    http://threadbndr.blogspot.com/2018/...-elements.html

ETA: I did a series of posts when working on the piece about the different bands of stitches. May 30, 2018 forward to the August post above

I see in the comments that you are sewing a part of the Bayeux Tapestry! That is so interesting! Did you know a modern update of it was done about Game of Thrones? http://www.irishnews.com/photos/vide...125935/?ref=sh
