WIP - 8/9/16 - Any time is quilting time

Hi all! I just lost everything I had typed for this post! Gah! It was my fault, too, as I was checking the post, and closed the window before posting. I had comments for everyone!!!!! I don't have time now to redo, but will try again later. Let me just say that I really like what everyone is doing, and was glad to see a new poster who has returned to quilting.

Here are the tissue and chapstick cozies that I made last week. The ladies in the family will each get a set. I am going to make darker chapstick cozies for the guys, and I don't think they would be too thrilled with the tissue cozies.

Just checking back in........here's proof I am working on my niece's quilt....slow on the embroidery. Here's a picture.....

    P1012734.jpg

It's a favorite verse of hers......I snooped on her Pinterest page so I wouldn't have to ask her about it.....sneaky.....yes.

This will be on the quilt top along with a special applique just for her.

I have no idea how I will quilt it yet......but I guess it will come to me like all the other projects.

That is coming along just great!! What stitch are you using? I just do a running stitch on mine then go over that with a wrap but yours looks a little better than mine, and I am always looking for ways to make my next label better.

Thanks Jocelyn. It's a chain stitch......my running stitch was looking a kind of pitiful so I tried the chain stitch.

I am sitting in my sewing room, which was painted over the summer, trying to sort out exactly how I will go about unpacking and organizing my remaining mess.... I'm wide awake in the middle of the night from jet lag, and this is the one place I can putter around without really bothering anyone else... I'm sure the kids will be up soon, but I hope for us all that they sleep until at least 5 and get closer to a sane schedule.

So, I'm not sure how much I will sew this week, but I will have time to assess that today and make a decision, I hope. I'm also heavily distracted today by the loss of my Grandmother. She has been on a steady decline of failing health over the past five months, I was able to see her on one of her last "good" days where we talked and she knew we were there and who we were. She passed peacefully in her sleep yesterday.

I might not set my machine up right away, I have some hexies and some yo-yo projects that I would like to do something with, so maybe I will have those upfront over the next few weeks.... so much beautiful work went on here last week, thank you for sharing!

I am so sorry for your loss. I'm glad you got to see her one last time on a good day, and that she passed peacefully.

So glad you were able to see her and she you.
Take your time with that jet lag, rest and hopefully the kids will, too.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the kind words. Here is a photo of her with my daughter, the 12th of 15 great-grandchildren. This photo was taken seven years ago, I'm the only one of us who chose to use her name, Patricia, for my child. At her request, it is the middle name, because she didn't like the nickname "Patti" which I agree with her on! Both of my children share her beautiful blue eyes, so I get a glimpse of her everyday. <3

Here are some of the other photos I promised! I realized that my struggle is that if I try to post from my phone the file size is too large. Fancy camera woes!!

The wall hanging I made for a friend who did our family portraits last year.

A hoodie for me. The back is the same print as the sleeves, which have black cuffs that kind of vanish in the photo!

Lou, sorry to hear about your grandmother. Glad you at least were able to visit with her before you returned home. Love the jackets you created.

Almost there! I got side tracked when that darn stomach virus came back and got me again. It was even worse the second time around. It got my DH too. I was too sick to do precision work so I made a string quilt when I started to recover. Then I had a major loss of confidence when it was time to attach the big circle to the outer frame. After reviewing all the possible options I decided to try freezer paper for stability. It was nerve wracking, but it worked This is my first time ever sewing a complete circle, all as one piece.

Now I just need to add a border. Not sure if I will use the fabric in the kit or use a Jinny Beyer border fabric.

I completed another set of 6 placemats. These are for my daughter. I have a friend making custom block printed napkins to go with them - daughter doesn't know about those!

This is really nice, but then all your quilts are. I'm certain your friend will appreciate this and the supportive sentiments that come with it. Kathy
