    Beginner Block Swap

I am interested in a beginner block swap. Since I am new at quilting I need practice for blocks. I have been a seamstress for 40 years, but quilting is new to me. I want them to be real creative. I do not know how to do this so if anyone could advise me it would be great.

It looks like someone started a beginner quilter page on the groups thingie. I don't know how adventurous you are, but some of us who ain't so bright dove straight into the deep end of things trying to make blocks with inset Y seams and the like. At least I never used pinking shears like my sister to cut my first patchwork pieces. She never could figure out why things didn't line up!

Anyhow, are you wanting a quilt-a-long or a swap? A quilt-a-long would give you the opportunity to make a bunch of different blocks yourself. A swap would let you make a bunch of the same blocks and then trade them with other beginner quilters who either made the same blocks as everybody else in different colors, or like our Wild Things swap, each swapper made a different block.
    Just something to think about.

      Re: Beginner Block Swap

I would love to join a quilt along for beginners - something not too hard, but not too boring...
      I found a quilt along here: http://www.freshlemonsquilts.com/?page_id=1105
but it's waaaaaaaaaay to complicated for me. Then I found another one where all the blocks were the same and all were just little squares - I would probably fall asleep while cutting and sewing it - something in between would be nice

Alicaz, you may be interested in doing this block of the month that I've been downloading: http://www.floridacabinfever.com/

It's the Black & White Delight - second down on the right side of the page. They are fairly simple blocks and they have already posted 8 of the 12 blocks. I have bough fabric to do these but haven't started yet.
