Turnovers for Stack-n-Whack

Hello all,
I am going to do the Winter's Song stack-n-whack, but where can I find solid black turnovers? I love that tutorial and pattern. LOVE IT!!! Help. There are SO MANY things I want to make. The pinwheel idea is wonderful...thank you Jenny for your brainstorming.

I believe that Jenny just cut black fabric into triangles.

And another thing, how many 3x8's do I need and how much yardage, approximately?? Don't mean to be dense, just want to be sure and make one trip to fabric shop.. Thanks again.
