SID with flannel on bottom, thread, needle size

I want to stitch in the ditch (SID) with a walking foot to quilt a quilt sandwich that has quilting cotton on top, warm and natural batting in middle, and high end flannel on the back.

I usually use Aurifil 50 wt and a 90/14 Topstitch needle to quilt. OK on this one?

I saw previous flannel post re: washing the flannel, cleaning machine during and after due to lint , basting around outside, etc.
Any other suggestions regarding needle, thread machine settings?
I will experiment but thought I’d ask the collective of experienced and brilliant folks here.

    Thanks

I suggest lengthening your stitch. Experiment to see what looks on the top and the backing. My motto is the thicker the layers, the longer the stitch!

I agree about lengthening your stitch a little. Your 90 needle should work fine.

I treat it the thickness the same as a regular quilt. I do lengthen the stitch to 3 or 3.5.

Enjoy life and do what makes you happy. Everything else will follow.

Every day I try to do one thing that challenges my comfort zone.
