    What's your favorite .........

    Scrappy pattern?
I am in the mood to do something scrappy.. whenever I look at "scrappy" quilts or projects online , they tend to look extremely well matched and coordinated ... do you have a favorite , or a "go to" scrappy pattern? That doesn't need to be coordinated to look nice? lol

    Thanks for any input!

    Happy Sunday!

I watched Jenny's video on crumb quilting and loved it. I made some nice appliques with the squares I made , by using teddy bear patterns, or fish or turtles etc. Making crumb squares is also relaxing. Even if you don't use them right away I like having them made up for future projects

Another pattern I love for scrappy quilts is an all pinwheel quilt. You can make the pinwheels on the larger size if you have healthy-sized scraps, or make them smaller if that's what your scraps demand. You can choose a single background fabric for the vanes, or you can use all scraps by pairing up your lights and your darks.

And I know what you mean by so-called scrappy patterns looking "extremely well matched and coordinated." I once bought a use-up-your-scraps book online. When it arrived, I had to ask myself, "So what do I do if I don't have a perfect set of rainbow-colored scraps in precisely the same amounts?" Not exactly the most useful book I've ever purchased!

Under the Stars is good for scrappy. I made Esther's with batiks and gold fabric for the stars.

I like "Growing Up Odd". It lets me use lots of different scraps and the white strips give it a somewhat organized structure. I sometimes use gray for the strips.
                        Crumb quilts are another favorite.

I love anything done in half sq. triangles the possibilities are endless. mine are usually 4.50" sq., and can use layer cakes or charms squares

I like string quilting. I generally use white as center string and just use scraps . I call them kaleidoscope quilts

Jenny's super simple hourglass. So fun, so fast and so easy and each block is a surprise when you open it up. It finishes up as all triangles. (When I cut my blocks apart on the diagonal I cut the very center with scissors to save wear and tear on rotary blade which gets pricey to replace.)
