    Quilting with templetes/rulers

I bought the special foot and a package of Juki all different shapes of plastic templates. Although I love all things Juki their tutorials are just about nonexistent . The area I live in doesn't have classes on how to use them. I think learning this skill would give me some variety in my quilts. Do you have a favorite video or site to learn how to use them? I have no idea where to start.

I wish you all the best with those. I have absolutely no clue on how to help but I have no doubt someone will be along with some advice.
Blessed are the children of the piecemakers for they shall inherit the quilts!

When I bought my Babylock longarm, I was told to watch Angela Walters youtube videos. And they are great even if she uses a different machine.

And I learned a lot from Angela Huffman: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCyH...agQrQ-xm6ssu5Q
      And Leah Day

I believe Angela Walters has the most videos using rulers on both a sit down and a longarm on a frame.

And I believe Leah Day has a Juki Longarm.

I think Angela Walters videos give the most practical tips on how to use rulers with your domestic sewing machine. The trick is to press down really hard on the ruler so it grips and moves the fabric and be very sure you are up against the ruler foot firmly when you start and stop or you get wobbles in your lines.

Did your templates come with a grippy tape already installed on them?

Congratulations on your purchase. I think that you will love using them, once you get the knack of them.

In addition to the Angela Walters videos, the Handi Quilter website has a lot of You Tube tutorials on how to use their rulers. No different with other templates.

          Have fun.

Enjoy life and do what makes you happy. Everything else will follow.

Amy Johnson is a great resource for quilting with rulers

I took both of Amy Johnson's Craftsy classes on quilting with rulers before I ever bought any rulers or attempted to FMQ with them. It helps to know what thickness of rulers to buy & which will work your particular machine. She also sells those rubbery grips for the backs of the rulers which help immensely. I've bought 2 packages thus far. They work great.
