Cakewalk by Lori Holt, question about the border

I don't have this pattern but saw it on Pinterest. I'm sorry I don't know how to repin the picture here. I don't want to make that pattern but want to adapt the border to another quilt I am making. It looks like the border is made from rectangles joined with half hexies in same fabric, OR do you think it is a scalloped border and each "shell" is a single piece? I am not always that good at figuring out how to do stuff just from a photo but don't want to buy it because I don't think I would make a cake quilt.

I think it looks like each "scAllop" is a 5 inch square with the top two corners snowballed.

I agree. You could use whatever size starting square you need to fit your top. You could adjust the inner border to whatever size you need to make the outer border fit best.

Love the borders on both of those quilts. Very pretty!
