    Tumbler quilt, how to quilt?

What's your favorite way to quilt a tumbler quilt? I'm just doing a mini, it's not even pieced yet but it's all laid out. Just lying here in the dark it dawned on me I've never seen a tumbler quilt in person, this is my first. I'm looking at Pinterest for ideas but not feeling inspired. I wasn't going to spend oodles of time on this, I just wanted to try a tumbler but am enjoying it so far and now have it in mind for a gift since it's looking so pretty.

Would you just outline or SITD, stipple, or what? I'm pondering hand quilting, but probably will machine stitch.

The fabric is Regent Street Lawn

Many ideas come to mind that could make a tumbler pop. For a modern look straight lines - horizontal or vertical, or even skewed. Or do concentric circles starting off center and space them about 1/2 to 3/4 inch apart. Or do outline stitching around each piece about 1/4 inch from the seams. Or an open meander would set them off. How about picking a theme from the fabric and repeating it - a flower shape perhaps? Or a simple loop-de-loop?
Sometimes, when there's a raging fire,
it's best not to try to put it out with gasoline.

I have done a 'fancy' stitch over the seams and I have quilted 1/4" on each side of the seam as well. Both looked great.
Blessed are the children of the piecemakers for they shall inherit the quilts!

I made a "lava lamp" tumbler quilt & just did two lines of echo quilting on both sides down each column. I'll post a pic if I can find it ( I'm terrible about remembering to take pics before gifting)

That's a beautiful collection of fabric there! Great choice.

            Pretty fabric.

I have one completed before purchasing my longarm and I stitched in the ditch. It was a 5" sashed tumbler twin size.

I have one that's waiting to be quilted and it's the 10" tumbler and queen size. Looking forward to some ideas also. Need to do something more than stitch in the ditch on it.

Dang - no lava lamp tumbler quilt pics. But I did find this one I'd totally forgotten about, lol. Overlapping circles/orange peel. I used a walking foot & did it on the diagonals - I'm not sure what it's called, I saw a graphic on how to do it & just tried it. I wasn't hard - pretty sure I spent more time marking the circles than I did on the quilting.

I'm so intrigued by the suggestions orange peel and concentric circles! I think I got stuck once I laid it out, the print and fabric are so lovely that obvious quilt designs seem too predictable and static and might be a distraction. You all are such a wealth of ideas!

It is a gorgeous fabric, not only is the print spectacular but it's a cotton lawn so it's very thin and silky. I just got a mini charm on a whim, I think I'll have to go back for something larger.

I saw one with a spiral that looked really nice. I'll go see if I can find it.
